The rear differential is part of the transmission but you may have only had the gearbox replaced and not the rear differential serviced at the same time to see if anything was amiss

If you have four wheel drive engaged, engine power is routed through the transmission to the transfer case to the front and rear differentials. When four wheel drive is disengaged power goes only to the rear differential.

The differential is inside and part of the transaxle. A transaxle has both the transmission and the differential together as a single unit. On rear wheel drive cars, the differential would be in the rear end- the large center case on the rear axle. With front wheel drive, the differential is incorporated within the transaxle. It is used to keep the front drive wheels turning properly during steering turns.

The differential uses the same oil or fluid as in the transmission/transaxle case-it is all the same piece, not serviced or flushed separately from the transmission, or transaxle as front wheel drive cars are called.

sounds to me like the bands or clutches are wore out. probally needs a rebuild.

The auto transaxle/differential fluid and filter should be changed every 30,000 miles or 24 months. The transaxle fluid and differential lubricant use the same Dextron III automatic transmission fluid. If you have a three speed automatic transaxle, the transaxle differential has a separate lubricant supply that should be checked every 15,000 miles or every 12 months. By the way........ see if there is a Half Price Books or other used book store in or near your town. I find used repair manuals like Hayes or Chiltons for $8.00 or less all the time. Hope this helps. It should be listed in the owners manual, but because of different oil cooler setups you may have to do the change yourself and add oil until the correct level is established..... for the first oil change.
Most likely 7 liters,but start with 5,run the engine to fill the oil filter,let it sit for 5 mins and recheck and fill to full.
Note the amount needed for next time.

Depends. If it is manual transmission, gear fluid; if it is automatic, then automatic trans fluid. I guess you are asking abot differential fluid, right? Auto trans fluid go into differential and AT gearbox. Gear oil go into manual transmission and differential.
