Probably the easiest way to turn off the Hex Dump mode would be to reset all printer settings. There should be a reset menu that will allow you to reset the printer to factory defaults. After which it should recognize the new ram and print normally.
Please follow steps below on how to print 2-sided on your printer:
Printing on both sides of the paper (duplexing) automatically:
Press .
With a document open, click File > Print.
Click Properties, Preferences, Options, or Setup.
Click the Print Layout tab
From the Duplexing area, select Use Printer Settings from the drop-down box.
Make sure the light is on.
Click OK to close any printer software dialogs that are open.
Printing on both sides of the paper (duplexing) manually:
With a document open, click File > Print.
Click Properties, Preferences, Options or Setup.
Click the Print Layout tab.
From the Duplexing area, select Manual from the drop-down box.
Select the Print manual duplex instructions check box.
Press Start.
The printer prints the odd-numbered pages and the instruction sheet, which describes how to flip and reload the paper.
Following the instruction sheet, flip and reload the paper with the printed side facing away from you.
The printer then prints the even-numbered pages on the reverse sides of the odd-numbered pages, completing the two-sided sheets.
Note:
button is not functional with a Macintosh operating system. You can print two-sided documents with a Macintosh operating system by using the settings in the Two-Sided menu of the Print dialog.
Automatic two-sided printing (duplexing) works only with plain paper in letter and A4 sizes. If you want to print two-sided documents on another size or type of paper, use the manual duplexing method.
To return to single-sided printing, make sure the light is not on.
If you want to set Print on Both Sides
(duplex) as the default setting for all print jobs (even single page
jobs) use the following steps.
Click Start
, Printers
or Printers and Faxes
from the Microsoft Windows desktop.
Right-click the HP Color LaserJet 2605dn_2605dtn
and select Printing Preferences
(Properties
in Microsoft Windows 2000).
Click the Finishing
tab.
Select Print on Both Sides
under the Document Options section.
Click OK
to save the setting and close the Printing Preferences window.
Close the Printers or Printers and Faxes folder.
Note:In this scenario, all print jobs, even single print jobs, will be
treated as Print on Both Sizes (automatic duplexing) for media that is
supported by the duplexing unit. For media that is not supported by the
duplexing unit, the job will be treated as Print on Both Sides
(Manually) (manual duplex).
The document I was thinking of referred to fuser wrap jams. I did some quick checking of duplex jams though and this might give you some guidance to check for.
These errors refer to jams when repicking to print side 2.
Cause
Solution
The spring of the duplexing media-repickup-sensor lever is unhooked
Check the spring and place it in the correct position.
The duplexing media-repickup-sensor lever is damaged
Replace the duplexing feed unit.
Poor contact of the duplexing media-repickup-sensor connector
Reconnect the connectors of the duplexing media-repickup sensor (J1945), intermediate (J1909, J1950) and the DC controller PCA (J4105).
The duplexing media-repickup sensor is defective
Check the duplexing media-repickup sensor by the sensor monitor mode. If the sensor is defective, replace the duplexing feed unit.
Poor contact of the duplexing repickup-motor connector
Reconnect the connectors of the duplexing repickup motor (J1771), intermediate (J1908, J1939, J1941) and the duplexing driver PCA (J4104).
The duplexing repickup motor is defective

Only if you print the first side then place the paper back into the printer to do the second side. Also referred to as manual duplexing. This printer has no automatic duplexing option.
Also keep in mind that the percentage of duplex prints you do should be very low as this printer has no method of cleaning the fusing unit as most printers do that are made for duplexing. The industry standard is 2% or less should be duplexed.
The document cover (or lid) is the large part that you pull up (open) when you want to scan a single page using the "flatbed" part of the scanner instead of the automatic document feeder (AFD).
There may be something under the lid that is holding it up slightly open.
Lift the lid and close it...
It should work, now.
If NOT, Turn OFF, unplug from outlet, wait a few minutes and plug back in.
