Good day!!!

Before I answer your question let me clarify something..

  1. What sensor you need to replace is it on the remote IR (infrared) or the receiver on your TV?
  2. Did you try other remote control?
  3. How did you say that you need to replace the IR sensor or receiver on your TV?
To test the remote please use a digital camera..How? place the shot to infrared of your remote then look at the screen of your camera after that press any button on your remote and look if the IR sensor lights up..

Please answer all my clarifications for me to diagnose the exact problem..Because replacing of IR sensor on TV is difficult..

Thank you for using fixya and choosing my service..

I'm sorry you didn't read my initial communication with Fixya. After 5 years of normally functioning, several different remotes programmed for the Vizio L37 ceased functioning. The manual "buttons" continued to function normally. If this indicates the TV's IR sensor unit needs replacing (It is available for under $20.00), I need to know how, no matter how difficult. Good day Sir Gerald Moss,

    Sorry for the late reply..

Please follow the instruction below to replace the TV receiver sensor..

    1. Open the back cover of your TV by unscrewing it using Philip screw driver.
    2. After that all parts on the LCD TV revealed such as power supply board, main board inverter board etc.
    3. Then try to look at the bottom side of the TV that usually locate the receiver sensor..It is usually together with the power indicator (red/green) LED.
    4. There are screws on that board please remove it to pull out the receiver board assembly.
    5. Before you decide to replace the receiver sensor on your TV please try to clean it with soft cloth and also the plastic protector..
    6. After you clean the sensor and protector and the problem persisted that is the time to replace the sensor. If you have a sensor assembly its better if not you need to replace the sensor only.
    7. To replace the sensor you need a soldering iron and soldering pump to pull out the sensor..

Hope it helps..If you have more queries and clarifications please reply to this tread.

Thank you for using fixya and choosing my service..

    GOD BLESS!!!

Check the remote control for its infra-red emission; pressing all the buttons on it. Check it with fresh batteries. If it is found OK, check and replace the infrared sensor inside the TV. Cable port broken off vizio L37

The Main Board will need replacement. Soldering in another cable connector will usually not work in most cases unless you change the entire tuner

My vizio l37 hdtv went black it is getting power the light stays yellow and does not go green. tried to rest it through tech support but nothing.

You need to replace the main board (signal). It is the board with all the A/V hookups on it. The part number is a number with 3 sets of 4 numbers and at the end of this number there is a number letter sequence with ( ) parentheses around it. Do a search on ebay and you should find one. Be sure to match the numbers I mentioned to the one on ebay!

Need to replace power supply to vizio l37 hdtv, difficulty level?

simple. take the stand out first, then the surrounding screws on back cover. Remove back cover and the power supply is just right there. Make sure you wear ESD or you may short out the fuse.

My mute does not work

You will have to isolate the problem. HDTV, remote unit, infrared receiver in set.
Operate the mute from the buttons on the set to see if it works.
If it works then the problem is probably in the the remote unit since the infrared unit on the set is receiving other commands from the remote unit.
If it does not works then the problem is in the TV set.
(This is a better problem than having the mute on all the time.)
