I need to replace the infrared sensor unit for Vizio L37 HDTV.

I'm sorry you didn't read my initial communication with Fixya. After 5 years of normally functioning, several different remotes programmed for the Vizio L37 ceased functioning. The manual "buttons" continued to function normally. If this indicates the TV's IR sensor unit needs replacing (It is available for under $20.00), I need to know how, no matter how difficult. Sorry for the late reply..

Please follow the instruction below to replace the TV receiver sensor..

1. Open the back cover of your TV by unscrewing it using Philip screw driver.
2. After that all parts on the LCD TV revealed such as power supply board,main board inverter board etc.
3. Then try to look at the bottom side of the TV that usually locate the receiver sensor..It is usually together with the power indicator (red/green) LED.
4. There are screws on that board please remove it to pull out the receiver board assembly.
5. Before you decide to replace the receiver sensor on your TV please try to clean it with soft cloth and also the plastic protector..
6. After you clean the sensor and protector and the problem persisted that is the time to replace the sensor.If you have a sensor assembly its better if not you need to replace the sensor only.
7. To replace the sensor you need a soldering iron and soldering pump to pull out the sensor..
