If the colors are not matching and shapes have a red, green or blue halos, then the problem is convergence rather than the color wheel. The problem is usually fixed replacing the two convergence ICs in the alignment circuit. The replacement involves de-soldering of two old ICs and soldering new ones in places. More components in convergence board (resistors, fuses etc.) may need to be tested and replaced. The repair ad the soldering job require training and experience and must be done by a technician.

give it a really good hover out mate, bulb everything that might clear it up a little
if you can get into the services menu look for self-focus setting,or if not look for red/green/blue realigning setting.

My tv only shows in green and purple

Have you examined the color wheel this set should have?

look for (remove lamp as it faces that) any segments broken or missing.

A color wheel also can have a high pitched or fan like sound but not always.

check the wheel first.

I have a Vivitek RP51HD41-A TV. The TV keeps turning off and on. The color and sound is fine. I have replaced the lamp and this has not fixed the problem.

If its a DLP it may have a color wheel which could be your problem (the colors will change etc)

Color wheels move at high speed and if slow down set will shut down.

The wheel if there will face the lamp. If often if failing will make a high pitched whine or a fan like sound.

Blurred color

Hi Shirley.

As said in the previous comment the problem is convergence. Usually the two convergence ICs must be replaced. The part is not expensive but there is some labor involved in replacement. The repair is usually charged between $150 and $200.

Hi. I have a Samsung DLP that I purchased about 7 years ago. Over the last week when watching HDTV channels ( live or PVR) some faces of people are showing a green line on the left side and then a red line...

Hi,Yes your problem sounds like the DMD board. This is how it works: http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/dlp1.htm Basically the light of the lamp goes through a tunnel that carries a color wheel(rotating disc with a gamma of colors that creates the colors on your tv)then the light of the lamp goes through the DMD board which is a chip composed of around 2 million pixels that creates the images and colors. When it starts to fail it will create black bars, pixelation, color distortion or white dots on screens. Here's a video that will help you find where the DMd chip is located : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jr_9A5Xd2Q Have a blessed one!

White has turned pinkish

sounds like the linear adjustment is out of whack.....most projection type tvs, projection, lcd, plasma, have to be correctly aligned so that the color grids overlap each other to properly display the correct hue being created. you'd need the service code to re-adjust it, or have it serviced. also possible that one of the color grids is bad, but if you have all three (red, blue, green) colors showing on the entire screen area i would doubt it

Toshiba colours gone wrong

Yes it is repairable. One of two things is wrong. The color wheel is going bad or the DMD board is going bad. These are the most common repairs needed for a Toshiba. I hope this will help.
