Here are a couple of ideas from a Google Search:

Press the key to the left of the On/Off button. The key has a picture of a finger pressing the touchpad. So simple, so elegant, so little information out there about it.

SOURCE: Can't perform acer aspire recovery management to

Hello and thank you for using Fixya's services.

Are you currently running Windows XP or Vista?

If running windows Vista, press F11 at startup, before the flashscreen appears. This will prompt the laptop into a factory restore mode.

If using Windows XP, you will need the restore disks. Most manufacturer's do not provide these with the purchase of the laptop but you can obtain a copy from the by calling their support or visiting their website. I believe the require shipping charges but do not charge for the software.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

There is very likely no way to repair them without spending $300 or more. If the computer has any working USB ports, simply purchase USB hub and attach it to the working port. If you are planning to use external hard drives or CD/DVD drives with this solution, make sure you purchase a hub with its own power supply, such as this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182176

Acer mouse disassemble ???

The Acer Aspire is a laptop model that has a built-in "mouse pad," also called a "touchpad." The user runs his or her finger across the mouse panel to move the cursor. If your mouse pad no longer responds to your touch, it may be due to a build-up of dirt and grease. Another common problem is having an outdated or damaged mouse pad driver. These problems can be quickly resolved without having to take apart the laptop.

Hold down the "Fn" key, which is found at the bottom left corner of the keyboard. Press the "F7" key once while holding the "Fn" key. Look for a message that says "touchpad enabled." b> Update the Drivers Go to "Start" > "Control Panel" > "System and Maintenance" > "Device Manager." Double-click on "Mice and other pointing devices" to expand the options. Right-click "Synaptics Touchpad" and then click "Search automatically for updated driver software." Wait for the computer to scan and install new drivers. Restart your laptop.

HI Diane,

Since you haven't provided the Windows Operating System version (XP/Vista/7 or other?), I'll have to provide the general scope of what you should try.

1. Go to the Control Panel and open up your Mouse section
2. Look through the different tabs until you find an option to either "Enable" your touchpad, or one that says the equivalent of "Disable Touchpad when external mouse or device is connected"

The idea is to accomplish your aim by working with the mouse settings provided for your system. Good luck and go easy on the "blue thumb". Please provide more specific information before a negative response.

Thanks

Touch pad center click button no longer works

Near your clock, you'll usually find an icon for your touch pad (probably synaptics). Open this & select mouse properties, in there look under Device Settings & try the "Reset Devices" icon.

If that don't work, Click start>control panel (classic view)>mouse.
On the Touchpad tab, make sure the 'tapping' box is checked . Click apply, click ok.

If that doesn't work, click start>run, type devmgmt.msc
and click ok.
Click the plus to expand Mice and Other Pointing Devices.
Right click and uninstall any mouse or touchpad listed.
Reboot.
Let Windows rediscover and reinstall the touchpad drivers.

Good Luck!

My laptop pad is very senative how do i ajust this?

there doesnt seem to be a setting in the synaptics touchpad menu for this so you will have to reset the touch pad, go to my computer>properties>hardware tab>device manager and go down list to mice and other pointing devices. Click on it and you should see synaptics touchpad, right click, and select uninstal. Restart laptop and the driver will re install synaptics driver and set it back to default.
