You could have any one of several problems with that gas dryer -
Turn dryer on. Go out to where dryer duct exits house. Feel the amount and strength of air blast coming from vent. Air blast should be strong and cover the full face of the vent.
If not, check that dryer hose is not crushed/collapsed behind dryer as it is pushed back into position. Clear any restrictions in the vent pipe. Clean lint screen. Check that there is no restriction where air is pumped into or discharges from the dryer drum on the inside. If you are able to, check to see if you can see the pilot ignitor lighting.

Nothing you did wrong! Probably needs a new heating element. Prices vary by model. Call Sears/Kenmore parts center nearest you. Tell 'em you need a heat element for your dryer. Be sure to provide your dryer's model number.
