Each scan has a large dark line down the middle of it. There is a bar that I can see under the glass - as if some mechanism is now stuck and this bar isn't retracting. So, when I select copy or scan - there is a large dark line running down the paper vertically. Help!?!

Lift the lid and to the left of the main glass is a smaller glass; that is what scans during the feeding process. Make sure that it is completely clean; even a speck of dust can cause a line to appear. I took a lens wipe and cleaned mine and my line was gone.

You have something on your "scanner glass", the narrow piece of glass that the scanner "looks" through during adf use. Get some window cleaner or rubbing alcohol and clean it with a damp cloth. Often, it's correction fluid (Liquid Paper). A little dot is all it takes because the paper is traveling across the dot, effectively drawing a line down the length of the page.

You need to clean small exposure glass located on the left of the main exposure glass. If this doesn't help,it can be a dust under the glass or on the mirrors that causing lines.
