Camera thinks memory card is locked

Canon Digital IXUS 970 IS  my camera thinks the sd card is locked, when it isn't. The card works in a different camera. I have tried several cards in the camera and the camara says they are all locked. Is there something I can do?

Check the pins where the memory card enter, if they are all there (not bended) go to canon site and download the latest framework.

P.S, mack sure to use the right SD Card type as the camera is compatible with some types and with a limited size only.

Canon IXUS 970 IS will not recognise 2GB SD card although it used to do so

The memory card might have been damaged. If it was a problem with your camera it might not have recognized your 32k sd card.
So buy a new sd card.

My canon digital camera ixus 75 card is locked how to procedure to unlock

Look at your memory card. SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

I have a canon ixus 700. i've tried to insert a new SanDisk 4 GB memory card. the menu says the card is locked when (i've treble-checked) it definitely is not locked. i read from others that...

According to the specs on Canon's web site, the IXUS 700 works with SD cards, not SDHC cards. SD cards are limited to 2GB in size (there are rare 4GB SD cards, but they tend not to work in SD devices).

Of course, it's your call as to how definitive any manufacturer's web site touting their product might be.

I got a new 4gb sd memcard for my 2005 canon ixus 50, screen shows " memory card error" "card locked". tried switch on card as u suggested, no diff.

The IXUS 50 works with SD cards. Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC card. While it fits into the slot, it is electronically incompatible and will not work. You need to use SD cards 2GB and smaller.

Will my canon ixus 60 take a 16gb memory card

Yes. The IXUS 60 was designed to work with SD cards. Cards larger than 2GB are actually SDHC (the HC stands for High Capacity) and will not work in this camera.

Canon sd card IXUS 97015

The best way to download pictures and videos from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures and videos from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo/video cataloging program.

When I try inserting memory card into Canon 890IS camera, I get "Card Locked!!" error message

This is usually caused by the SD card, and is nothing to do with the camera. On the SD card there is a small slider - which allows you to lock the card (to prevent accidental erasure).

If you put in on the table with contacts upwards, corner cut top left, then the slider is on the right hand edge, about 1/3 the way down. If it is slid to the top position (nearest the contacts) the card is unlocked. If it is slid down (away from the contacts) the card is locked.

If it is a damaged / "cheap" card, sometimes the slider falls out, in which case the card is locked. You can still read from it, but not write to it until fixed or replaced.

Have you tried the camera with another SD card, to see if the problem persists?

Memory card error

I assume that you know that there is a tiny tiny on-off switch on the edge of each SD card. If they are locked in the off position....

MEMORY CARD

I would think that as long is it is a sd memory card then it would be compatible since the camera uses the sd card and the 4gb is for photo storrage
