My washing machine is making what can only be described as a pneumatic drill noise. It is absolutely horrendous and extremely loud. It is nearly 2 years old. This only occurs when it is on the spin cycle. Is this cureable or do I need a new machine?

well what it is, is that when hotpoint brought out the new type washer they change the bearings and carbon brushes this is why hotpoint went bust the new bearings have a spring in there instead of the old type which was just a rubber seal with metal strips in it the spring will always go have seen them go within 4months of them being repaired what any engineer should do is change that spring for either the old type seal or just leave it out these 2ways work better they dont break down for ages unless the washer is over-loaded it can be fixed but like i say the price off it sometimes isnt worth it although the washer will have been £300+when u bought it, its really upto u it should take an engineer around 1hour at tops to do it in house or 2days if they take it away. Indesit now own hotpoint and they will make them worse within a few years down to the parts they put in.If your going to replace the washer go for something like a ZANUSSI,WHIRLPOOL or even better but slightly dearer BOSCH or AEG theyll last years better made washers with better made parts love, all engineers dont want to do bearing jobs on newer hotpoints because of that recaring( f _ _ k)?
