My washing machine is making what can only be described as a pneumatic drill noise. It is absolutely horrendous and extremely loud. It is nearly 2 years old. This only occurs when it is on the spin cycle. Is this cureable or do I need a new machine?

It is a Hotpoint yes. I phoned an Engineer earlier who said if it was a hotpoint that it would not be repairable. What do you think? Thanks for your comments, extremely helpful.

More then likely its your bearings is it a hotpoint by any chance it is fixable but any repair man will charge u around £150.00+ to do this

well what it is, is that when hotpoint brought out the new type washer they change the bearings and carbon brushes this is why hotpoint went bust the new bearings have a spring in there instead of the old type which was just a rubber seal with metal strips in it the spring will always go have seen them go within 4months of them being repaired what any engineer should do is change that spring for either the old type seal or just leave it out these 2ways work better they dont break down for ages unless the washer is over-loaded it can be fixed but like i say the price off it sometimes isnt worth it although the washer will have been £300+when u bought it, its really upto u it should take an engineer around 1hour at tops to do it in house or 2days if they take it away. Indesit now own hotpoint and they will make them worse within a few years down to the parts they put in.If your going to replace the washer go for something like a ZANUSSI,WHIRLPOOL or even better but slightly dearer BOSCH or AEG theyll last years better made washers with better made parts love, all engineers dont want to do bearing jobs on newer hotpoints because of that recaring( f _ _ k)? UP of a design thats all I can really say, I say it straight and dont mess anyone around love cheers peter

Washing machine-making a loud banging noise when on spin cycle

sounds as though your load might be off balance, and I would make sure the tub springs are intact.

I hate to say, but it sounds like the pressure pump is on its way out. Should not be making that noise as described above. They are somewhat loud but not too extreme when new.

Loud noise when power steering is on full lock Kia Sedona 2004

There may be 2 possible causes for this problem. THe first may be cv koints failing or excessive turn angle of the wheel which would be binding up the cv joint. This can be checked by a wheel aligner testing the maximum turn allowed at the wheels.. The second is that power steering pumps should never be operated at tight full turn. To umnderstand this consider this. Power steering pumps are only under load when you move the steering wheel ans if you turn a bit the pump moves the wheels and then the pressure is let off until you move the wheel again. You have to move the wheel to shut off a valve in the box that allows the pump to build up pressure. When you hold the wheel hard against the stops at full turn you are making the pump work at maximum pressure and if you continue to do this you can expect premature pump failure. Jusat turn until you hit the stops then ease off a fraction. The noise I expect is the pressure relief valve in the pump is releasing rapidly and it probably sounds like a hammer hitting something metalic. Try the alignment and try not holding the turn hard at hard full turn. Haveing the pump pressure checked might also point to a fault

Making noise when running

It can be tempting to ignore washing machine noises, especially if the machine is still working. But washing machine noise is not only annoying, it can also be a sign of serious damage. When armed with a few tips, you can determine what problem may be causing your washing machine to rattle, and what you can do to stop it.
Instructions: 1)Check for drum bearing failure if your washing machine is noisy on the spin cycle. Drum bearing failure is common when the bearing seals start allowing water to enter. You can take the belt off and spin the drum by hand, and if the drum rumbles, replace the bearings. 2)Turn the drum by hand and listen for loud noises. If the drum itself is split or the 'spider' is corroded, broken or has come apart from the back of the drum it will create a loud noise on every turn of the drum. (When the bearings have gone bad, the noise is constant the entire time the drum is spinning.) 3)Look for obvious dents and creases in the drum or look for coins or small objects stuck inside the tub underneath the drum when a horrendous noise is made while clothes are in the tub. 4)Clear the water pump from obstructions like coins or small objects when a noise occurs while the washing machine is emptying water. 5)Remove the sump hose and look for bra wires if you hear a light scraping noise when the drum is turned by hand. You can also check to make sure a wire isn't poking out of one of the holes in the drum. In this case, you can pull the wire out easily with pliers. 6)Take the belt off and run the motor alone if you hear a high pitched squealing noise to check for motor bearing damage or wear. If you still hear the noise without the belt, it's the motor bearing.

Tub makes loud thumping noise when spinning

Good morning! It's common to hear a loud thumping noise during spinning because the load (clothes) are not properly place in the tub. Please try to put the load in order & compress it down. best regards.
