SOURCE: The Lens Stuck in extended position on my kodak easyshare v-550

Hi there, welcome to FixYa.

L-83 is a type of lens error. There are a few different types of errors with causes ranging from a broken gears (they're plastic), to sand or dirt getting in the gears preventing them from turning. So, here are a couple things you can do to fix this yourself before turning it in to shop for repair.
1) Get an air compressor and put the nozzle up to the space between the lens and the body of the camera and blow it out real good. Then turn the camera over (lens down) and tap the lens on a hard surface. You may have to do this a couple of times.
2) Press the power button on the camera, and while it's flashing it's lights, bang the side of the camera on the palm of your hand a couple of times. That may free the gear up.

If it's not something blocking the gears from turning, then it could be that the guide pins on the lens may be out of their tracks. If this happens, then the lens will not move at all.
Press the power button and grab the lens, give it a tug and a twist. Don't be afraid of it, you want to manuever those pins back into their tracks. You should hear a click when they fall back into place. If you hear the click, then stop pulling on it. Power it off and back on to see if the lens retracts.

If these three suggestions won't work for you, then you should turn it in for repair. Perhaps the teeth on the gears are getting stripped off, and it's pieces of the gear themselves that's getting trapped in the other gears.
Hope this helps you. Thanks for coming to FixYa.

SOURCE: Kodak Easyshare camera turns on and off

Hi, here is whats going on, if your M763 is powering on for 2 secs and the lense opens up then go's right back in, there is a 90% chance you got sand in the unit from say the beach ?

here is a test , when you press the power buttion watch the lense you will notice that the bigger part rotates as it comes out, what you want to do is give it a little help Lightly rotate it abit more just at the point where it normaly stops and go's back in, the cam will prob stay on and work like normal.

now the hard part 2 things to try, a can of AIR from walmarts try to blow out and sand thats around the rings, i did this and have fixed about 20 of these's now, on the others you will need to take it apart and clean the gears and mech of the lense housing then put it all back together.

hope this helps

Kodak easyshare c1530 won't turn on after slighty dropped

Hello Doris, You can "GENTLY" try to push the lens slowly back into the camera with the palm of your hand, note I said gently and slowly, do not use force !!! Then turn on camera and see if this helped, if not it is repair time.

My Kodak EasyShare M530 will not turn on, and it is making buzzing noises when I try to turn it on.

its a lens jammed issue. Noise came from lens area. Use air on the lens area for cleaning the dust and then try. If required then trust it in other hand little bit. Not too harder.

My kodak easyshare m530 digital camera can't Autofocus

The lens needs to be taken apart cleaned and lubricated, overtime they build up dirt and grime causing the gears to become stiff, the only solution is dismantle the lens and clean it until spotless. If a camera specialtist gets in involved it will be expensive.

Camera will not turn ON. I changed the batteries but still no change.

Things to check first for a camera that won't turn on are battery contact points, and micro switches that are located on the battery and memory card doors. Troubleshooting tips on other things that need to be checked may be seen here. These tips won't work for every case, but they're worth a try.

Turning camera on

Take it back to where you got it or send it to Kodak because this should be a warranty issue. I repair these camera's all the time and it should like 1 of 2 things main controller is not making proper connection or a cold solder joint and the connection is intermediately connection making it work once in a while I hope this help you decide on what to do.
