Try connecting it to iTunes, turning off the ipad, then hold both the lock and the home button for 10 seconds, then relese the lock button while continuing to hold the home button until iTunes recognizes the iPad. Then you should be able to reset it without problem.

As for the reason for iPad is disabled, it is mostly caused by entering the wrong password five times in a row. If you continue to enter the wrong passcode, your iPad will become unavailable again and time will be added.
If you forget the password of your phone, don't worry. You can restore your disabled iPad with TunesKit iPhone Unlocker.

I forgot my unlock code for my old ipad1 haven't used in in months

If your iPad is disabled, the only way to unlock it is to completely erase and reset it. If you have a backup, you'll be able to restore it, otherwise you'll lose all of your data. There is no way to unlock a disabled iPad unless you use the correct passcode or you erase it. And the following guidance will show you how to unlock a disabled iPhone with iTunes.

Step 1. Connect your iPad to the computer with via a USB cable that your iPad has trusted.
Step 2. Launch iTunes. If you've synced your iPad with iTunes, then no "enter password" is required.
Step 3. iTunes will automatically sync your iPad and create a backup file. If it doesn't, you should sync your iTunes and create a backup file manually by clicking "Back up Now" in the Summary window.
Step 4. In the Summary window, you can see the option "Restore iPhone". Click it to reset your iPad. Once the reset process is complete, you'll be taken through the iPod's initial setup process.
Step 5. Select "Restore from iTunes backup" during the setup process. This will load the backup that you created so that all of your data is restored.

Is there anything wrong with the passcode? If your iPad is locked and you forget the passcode, please follow the steps below to unlock it.

1.Connect your iPad to your PC or Mac.
2.Select your device in the iTunes sidebar, and click the"Summary" tab.
3.Click "Check for Update". iTunes will show you if there any new version of iPad software is available.
4.Click "Restore iPad". You can finish the restore process by following the instructions given. During the process, a recommend that tells you to back up your files will be given. You can restore your data after the process is complete.

Now, you must have restored your iPad.
Note: Even you bring your iPad to the Apple service center, Apple staff also need to restore your iPad to unlock it. That's to say, you need to erase everything on it.

Ipad says disabled

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212

If you don't remember setting up a passcode on your ipad, maybe someone else did, and then entered the wrong passcode more than six times, resulting in a disabled ipad.
In the link above you will see instructions on how to deal with this problem, which pretty much boil down to connecting your ipad to itunes and restoring from a previous backup that you may have saved.
If you never created a backup, you can still reset and wipe your ipad from itunes, resulting in everything being erased, but at lease giving you back full use of your ipad.

Good luck!
