HP OfficeJet Pro L7680 AiO - Black print fades down the page.

The black ink fades down the page during printing/copying with my HP OfficeJet Pro L7680 AiO. Depending on the density of the black being printed/copied it can be after an inch or so (solid black) or after several pages (light/small font widely spaced text). If I pause between printing each page normal text prints fine and (if I pause before doing it) the print quality page is fine also. Cleaning the print heads makes no difference. I have recently changed the blank ink cartridge (genuine HP as are the others and the print heads). It's as if something is partially blocked between the (new) ink cartridge and the printheads. Anyone know how to clear it? -- Simon

My HP OfficeJet L7680 just stopped printing ANYTHING black. I change the black cartridge twice.I cleaned the printer heads, aligned it and still it will no longer print anyhting in black. When I do a test...

It sounds like your printer setup has changed to generating black by MIXING the color inks... if you run out of the cyan and yellow it will do red in spite of how many changes you make of the black cartridge.

Investigate the setup for the printer to make sure it is set for black from the black cartridge.

A black vertical line is on each copy.

Try the 6500 driver. I have seen that allow text print but no graphics. If line disappears, reinstall 7680 driver. If line comes back, contact HP about updated drivers, check their website OR try to get your money back. I have never had luck with this series of AIO.
Good luck.

L7680 printer was working fine. It stopped printing black but will print all other colors. I just replaced the black ink cartridge and it still won't print black. Do you know the fix for this?

If you print primarily black, your black/yellow printhead may have worn out and needs to be replaced. Go to start, printers and faxes, select the L7680 and then select properties. Print a test page and run the troubleshooter to clean the nozzles and lines. If it's not the nozzles or lines, search for C9381A on google and purchase a new printhead it should be about $70.

Check your default ink setting if red is default then change it and make black ink default settings.

HP officejet pro l7680 all in one

Most likely the print head has failed and the black is not printing which is causing the printer to have issues. Talk to HP as I guess printheads have warranty or simply change the yellow/black printhead. Or if all of these fail give the machine to HP to get you a new one as this is not right. I hope this helps.

Standard black printing has faded to grey.

Could just be a faulty cartridge?

My hp printer developed a similar fault, and despite all my attempts to clean, realign, whatever, the problem wasn't solved till I fitted a new ink cartridge. It's worth a try.

Newly Installed 7680

probably you did nothing wring, I seen a few of these cartridges leak - HP should replace the machine if the damage was caused by original cartridges.
