SOURCE: print jobs smeared

Hi Are you using OEM or rebuilt toners? If your using OEM and your able to smear the ink with your finger more than likely you have a fuser problem?. If your using rebuilt cartridges it could be the cartridge. Good Luck!!

SOURCE: Printer smears on cold print

The toner cartridge sounds like the problem to me. Did you refill it? Or have it done? It sounds like an incompatible brand......toner is very model specific, and not just 'any' will do, and it often doen't mix well with the remaining toner i the cartridge if it is not completely disassembled and cleaned out. Just curious

SOURCE: I've installed a new drum AND a new toner

Try this....
1: Turn off power and remove toner/drum
2: Tape the little spring loaded lever just inside the printer on the upper left hand side in the *DOWN* position! Do not replace drum yet and...
3: Turn power on to printer and let it cycle. Status/Toner lights will come on as usual.
4: Turn off printer, remove tape from lever, replace drum and turn back on.

My Brother HL-5250dn prints grey lines down the page, sometimes up to 4 evenly spaced.

need printer service ,some times when the laser unit dirty than u should clean all optical mirror inside laser unit. sometime comes from drum , also if the fuser unit defective, last chance change toner cartridge.

First problem was the whole page was smearing when printing. I replaced the drum and there is still a little smearing. What can I try next?

smearing can be interpreted different ways. if paper stalls, it will cause "stretched" print. if the drive system is bogged down by a binding drum unit or toner, it can cause a "squished" print. if its just a "blurry" kind of print, it may be generic toner. since i can't actually see defect, i would say since you replaced drum already, toner would be easiest thing to do first. keep in mind also, generic toners have a fairly high failure rate.

I have a 525DN Brother Printer which has started printing a line in the middle of the papers and dumping ink out of the left side of the cartridge - do you know what may be wrong?

Thin line? Print a diagnostic page (3 pushes on the go button) and try changing the toner cartridge or drum, depending of the page says.

When printing the printer is leaving smears on the left side of the page and random letters. If I make 20 copies, the first 5 and the last few will have the marks. I already changed the drum and all...

you need check
1) you may make sure the smear occur after the photo drum unit or after fuser unit, you can stop printing when the paper goes around between the drum unit and fuser unit,
2) clean or change fuser leaner if the random smear occur after the fuser unit(not after the drum unit).
3) still check new drum unit there is a cleaner on it, it could be the smear occured if not enough cleaned drum surface
hope you fix it

Can smears when priting be fixed

Have you tried cleaning the corona wire on the drum unit (the blue slider bit)?

Replace the drum unit (assuming you have already replaced the toner cart?)

To check the remaining drum life press the go button 3 times. A report should print out with the info on. Even though you may have some remaining life, the drum can fail early.

If the dots/marks are repeating about 3 times down the page it is almost certainly the drum unit that has the problem.

Prints ok, but dirty page. Happened suddenly. No lights are on. HL 1440.

The problem is with the toner ow paper feeding. Proper feed the papers, if that dosn't solve you may have to change the toners. It is best that you put a new one. If that dosn't solve then thre cables must have got damaged. Send it to Repair.

Help with Brother MFC-8500 all in one printer

When you get the paper, can you smear the print with your fingers, or is printed on there properly.

if you can smear it, it would be your fuser not doing its job properly, if you cant, then its your replacement toner as it most likely incorporates the drum in it, which i think is your problem.
