The lock code is the last 4 digits of your phone number (unless you previously changed it when you first got the phone). This is the default for all phones - again, unless you already manually changed it. If you did then you'll need to call customer service and they will reset your lock code. Pretty easy.
When i try to change some of the internal setting the phone keeps asking me for a "service code" it is 6 number/letters. can anyone please help?
Posted by eclashea on Feb 20, 2009 How do I unlock the LG Rumor (Sprint) so, that it works with ATT??? answer to this question is No the LG Rumor is a CDMA and ATT it a GSM. Sprint does not use sim cads only nextel does but nextel is an iden. so there for u can not use a LG RUMOR for ATT.
For unlocking lg rumor u can go here here r video tutorial also
I know the normal way is to call the provider of the phone (network carrier) and ask them for it.
The alternative is to use a program to read the code on a Windows PC via a USB cable with appropriate drivers installed. There is a custom program called "LG SPC PROGRAM.exe". It is approximately 56kb in size. I found it on 4shared. Some antivirus software will report this software as being a virus/trojan. I always try to run unknow programs sandboxed so they cannot harm my computer. Google "sandboxie" for a windows sandboxing program.

It should be the last 4 digits of your cell #....I hope this helps.....
SOURCE: How to unlock LG Rumor from sprint
The LG Rumor is a Sprint CDMA device. This means that it is activated on a network using the Electronis Serial Number programmed into the device. Once the device is powered up, it registers to the network and if that ESN doesnt match an active acct, then no service, and you may get a message asking you to activate your device. Sim cards are only in GSM devices (not including nextel and a few devices that have been dubbed world phones, allowing them to work on both CDMA and GSM services.)
So, all this was to explain simply that you can never put a sim card in a LG Rumor. There is nowhere for it to go. SRY!!!!!
