Question about Canon PowerShot G9 Digital Camera
While taking a picture, the camera died, or so I thought, with the lens out. Once I charged the battery I was able to retract the lens, but then the screen was black and so were the new pictures I took. And now, with a fully charged battery, the camera will not even turn on. A man said the sensor went out and to fix it would be between $175-$250. Is there another way to fix this?
Your camera probably developed a common short that the G9's sometimes get. You'll need to have it serviced and if you go to this site: www.CamerasAndParts.com they service the Canon Powershots exclusively and they are excellent on these models. It's $89 with them and you get parts, labor, servicing for the camera, and most important they perform the no power correction on the camera too. Shipping is included on the way back with them too. For $89 they're tough to beat. They are experts on these models and the only place I'd go for a Canon Powershot. Good luck with yours.

Sounds like the popular loose screw problem on your G9 (G7's often develop this problem too). You can have it serviced at this place: www.camerasandparts.com They are not expensive at all and the work through them is superb. They do a fix inside the camera so this loose screw problem doesn't keep happening. They'd be the place for help with that one.

Most likely a loose screw inside and it shorted a circuit in the G9. For service, we recommend www.CamerasAndParts.com They tend to be the best for repairs on the Canons. I'll post a video below on the problem with a link to them if you need to have it fixed.

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
