So Whenever I plug headphones or speakers into my Sylvania TV there is a very annoying buzzing sound. I have been experimenting with many things to try and solve this problem and these are some details I have found: - I eliminated a humming that was going with the buzzing when I turned off the "Energy Saving Mode" in the settings, yet there is still and very loud buzzing noise left. - The buzzing seems to be loud on some channels, and is very low on others (and happens to be the loudest on the channel I am using, darnit) - The buzzing does not go away even when I mute the tv, yet it gets louder when I turn the volume up - I have turned off any wireless devices that may somehow be interfering - I have tried plugging tv into different sockets and have made sure every wire on tv is properly plugged in and no wires are bent etc. - I have concluded the buzzing is coming from the TV in some form, and not from the headphones, speakers etc. To add to this question, is there any headphones I can get that don't need to plug into the tv headphone jack? (Im sure the buzzing is coming from the tv through the headphone jack) I primarily want to solve this problem for my xbox 360 gaming, is there any headphones that plug into xbox 360 directly?

Hi, Ok, I now understand what the problem is. Sorry I missed the fact that it is due to no audio outputs on the TV. The audio board is designed to power low impedance speakers and doesn't have a big power amp to drive them. I do not have a schematic of that particular TV so I do not know how the headphone jack is wired. The way it basically works is, when you insert the plug, the tip pushes a contact away from another contact thus making one circuit and breaking another. You can test this externally by inserting an unwired plug or look at it from the inside and bridge the tip connection. I would only advise this if you have some technical skills. Other than that the thing is working like it was designed, they don't want you to use both. Sorry, I hate to give this type of news, but I am one of the only ones who will. Good Luck to you!
