Dewalt battery charger

I currently have a 24V cordless Dewalt drill. I plan to buy a dewalt cordless hoover now along with a 18V battery. Will I be able to charge my 18V battery on the charger that I already have for my 24V drill or would I need a new charger ?

Thanks
Mary

Thanks for the important info - much appreciated - so basically the battery and battery charger have to be the same voltage - I can't use a higher voltage charger to charge a lower voltage product..

Dewalt charger normal flashing with no battery connected

please clear the contact of the battery and charger, charge the battery again. If still no help, please use a good battery to see if it is the problem of the Dewalt DC920KA battery or the charger.

DEWALT charger flashing with no battery to charge, doesn't appear to be charging batteries either.

This sounds like your charger will most likely will need to be replaced, in this day in time most charger are throw aways.

Does battry have to cool down before charging?Dewalt DC920KA Heavy Duty Xrp 18V Cordless

Yes, when a battery is being used for a long time, you need to let it cool down and take it to charged. Although there is many fast charger now, but in order to protect the battery, I recommend you to buy a second battery for replace.

And, if you do not know where to find the right one? Here is some suggestion for your Dewalt DC920KA Battery

I have an 18v Milwaukee drill. Can I use a 28v charger to charge the 18v battery

Generally, When your have the 18V milwaukee drill, you had better to use the same voltage battery charger to charge the battery. it will be more safe.

first of yours is 24v, they have two 18v, so those two are out right there, and the dewalt drill/driver is out cause you have a duratool, not a dewalt.

Dewalt cordless drill

You have burned out the drill motor, it is shorted, the battery smoked due to a direct short, one thing I don't understand why the thermal limiter didn't trip in battery pack, I would contact manufacturer and try to get hem to buy you a new drill.
