With your R2D2 make sure his red button is not engaged as this stops him from moving. Be patient with this toy and read the instructions carefully he is an amazing robot to own and play with and will suprise you as he did with our family.

Sorry Ron, dont have the information you require. What is the problem with the R2 unit. Can I assist you in fault finding? Multilayer boards make servicing difficult indeed, it may even be an interlayer connection causing the problem. If masked processors were used, parts may be difficult to get. Have you checked things like DC/regulator conditions, reset devices to micro's, clocks working and so on. More involved repairs are hard to acheive on any modern firmware controlled equipment.
