Just replaced the motherboard in my G1220SC Miele dishwasher and since then the lower spray arm will not spin during the wash. Will spin freely when turned manually, have cleaned all the holes in it. No problem with top arm. No obstructions in bottom rack as I have run the machine when empty. Any solutions?

I'm now soaked, but I was able to determine that the lower arm isn't turning. There's a LOT of water coming out, but it doesn't move. Turning by hand I can turn it freely, it spins like a top. .... How do i remove the lower spray arm of my Maytag .

If is clean dishes in the upper basket, I conclude that the pump produces enough pressure what means that the lower spray arm for some reason does not rotate and because that washing result is bad. Before washing I would check the lower spray arm rotates freely and after that open the door during washing and check if the lower spray arm rotates. Sometimes, the holes in the spray arm clog and disable turning which leads to poor washing results in the lower basket.

Circulation pump might be faulty. or spray arms are blocked. remove spray arms and clean them and try it again.

It will spin freely by hand, but needs to spray water out of the jets at the trailing edge of the arm. Check inside the arm for blockage and make sure that water is getting to the upper arm from the pump.

Hi Matt.
The lower housing underneath the lower wash arm may still have something blocking the water passages.

If the spray arm is clean and it freely rotates try lightly pressing down on the wash arm and then rotate it. Your checking to see that when water is applied to the spray arm it forces the arm down against the lower housing tower and hopefully does not lock up. If it does lock up while pressing down and rotating obviously you need to find out what the cause is.

You may have to remove the lower wash arm housing and clear the debris from the water passages. Once the passages are clear it should work fine.

ok so If your dishwasher has worked fine in the past but, suddenly, your dishes aren't clean after the dishwasher completes all cycles:
1) Check your water heater's temperature dial to be sure it hasn't been changed recently.
2) Be sure dishes haven't prevented the detergent dispenser from opening properly during the wash cycles or kept the spray arms from turning, the lower arm from rising, or the spray from reaching the upper rack's dishes.
3) During the wash cycle, listen to the spray arm spinning inside. If it seems to be spinning poorly, clean out the spray holes in the spray arm(s) with a stiff piece of wire; wait for the machine to cool, and then remove the spray arm(s) by unscrewing the hub cap and lifting the arm(s) off Regards Gizokieth

Hi: I just posted a similar problem, but found a solution. After taking the arm, etc. apart (and verifying no blockages), I thought maybe the lack of water pressure was being caused by the fact that there are TWO holes for the top spray arm (higher and lower rack setting) on my model. ie. that water was being forced out of both holes, causing a drop in water pressure, which was causing the top spray arm to stop spinning. I plugged the unused hole with a wine bottle cork (to keep the water from spraying out the unused hole), and voila, it now works.

I wish all appliance fixes were this easy...!
