Dp-300u, h/w ver: B2, f/w ver: 2.10 connected to computer via ethernet cable and connected to two printers via parallel ports. it was working perfectly until i powered the server off and then back on.

Looked on d-link website and found dp-300u manual. the manual explained that 13 quick blinks + 1 long blink following a self-test on power-on indicates error with lpt 2 port. all connections remained the same pre-reboot (when printers connected to the server and the server intself were working fine) and post-reboot (when the problem started and persists)

SOURCE: Forgotted the Ip of D-Link DP 300U print server

You may use the PSAdmin software to configure your print server even if you don't know the IP address. The only requirement is that the DP-300U has to be in the same network (subnet) as your PC running PSAdmin. In the PSAdmin, you will then be able to view or change the IP address.

Here is the link to download PSAdmin:
http://support.dlink.com/products/view.asp?productid=DP%2D300U#apps

Remember that if you also have forgotten the Admin password, you will have to ship the unit to D-Link in order to have it factory reset.

SOURCE: hp 1020 dp-300u

I have one of theses D-Link PD-301U. It does NOT support a printer like yours. According to D-Link's Web site, here are the HP Laser printers it supports (note the P1020 is NOT in the list):

LaserJet

  • 1200
  • 1500 (USB 2.0)
  • 2200
  • 2200D

SOURCE: FORGOTTEN PASSWORD IN DP 300U HOW RO RECOVER OR

Try this; it worked for my DP-300U.

    username: psadmin
password: SYSXXXX (Where XXXX is the last four digits of the MAC address, which can seen on the underside of the server)

I learned this from http://www.fixya.com/support/t224263-dp301p_psadmin_password_forgoten. On that post
viaujoc also suggests a way of extracting the forgotten password from a configuation backup file.

SOURCE: hi , please i have forgot my password Dlink dp 300u ,can you help me please?

Try using the psadmin software to do a factory reset. If it demands a password to do this, try using "SYSxxxx" (where xxxx stands for the last four digits of the MAC address written on the underside of the server. If you don't have the psadmin software you may be able to download it off the internet. After doing the reset you will need to follow the Quick Install Guide to set up the server. If you lost the Quick Install Guide you can download a new one from D-link's website. The following link may also be helpful: http://www.fixya.com/support/t224263-dp301p_psadmin_password_forgoten

DETAILS DONT SPECIFY WHERE TO CONNECT PRINTER- APEX AX3400G-U4802 computer

As this doesn't machine doesn't have a Parallel Port the only way to connect a Printer is via the USB.

If you've only got a printer with Parallel connection you need to get a Parallel to USB Adapter.

There are 2 types of Adapter depending on what type of connection your Printer has (examples at links below).

    http://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-SBT-UPPC-Parallel-6-Foot-Printer/dp/B0007UVRVO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1310762929&sr=8-1

These are just examples to show you the 2 types and cheaper options are available.

    Printer connected but not printing

    Hello,
If your printer has a network port you should be using the network adapter.
Otherwise you want to make sure you connect the printer with a USB cable to the appropriate port on the D-Link.
Once the USB cable is connected you should be able to add the printer from your computer as a shared printer.
You will not normally see any activity lights on your router for the USB connection because it does not send or receive information the same way the LAN cables will.
I do recommend a LAN cable though as it works much better with routers. If your printer does not have one I would look into getting a network printer.
    Thanks,
    Pat

DLINK DP-300U. Desktop shows printer offline, Laptop prints OK.

First thing.. plug printer directly into PC.. does it work? .. if so its is a port setting. If now it is the device config on PC

If Port Setting Issues.. are you going through any other devices on the network or is you firewall blocking the IP.

If device Config issue check to see it is setup up as an IP Port not a normal local port

Our office recently aquired a Panisonic DP-4530 hoping to use it as a network printer. Much to our dismay none of our computers have serial ports. Is it possible to connect this machine using a USB cable...

I assume you mean "Parallel"? regardless, you can pick up a "Parallel" to "USB" adapter cable at your local electronics store to convert it, and then install it the usual way. Although i'm surprised that there isn't an ethernet port on the machine, because I believe it came standard with the Printer interface option, but if you bought it used it may have been removed.
    Hope this helps.

    Hp 1020 dp-300u

dont' worry about what the d-link site says. its because they haven't tested it. i got my dp-301u to work fine with my hp1020 on 2 different workstations with the following steps.

    1. install printer locally via usb and test.
    2. create a second printer as per the dlink manual creating a port. don't worry about the name as we will delete it.
    3. once created go into the properties of the 2nd printer and change the port to something local - anything will do to free up the port.
    4. go into the properties of the printer that was created in step 1. and change the port to that of the print server.
    5. test print. should work fine.

    cheers!!

Configuring a Mac Book Pro laptop with a DP 300U Print Server

    I connected my HP5MP to the DP-300U LPT1 port.
I configured my port on the DLink Configuration tab, giving it a name "hp5"
...The default login is at http://192.168.0.10/ user:admin pass:(there is no pass by default)

On my Mac, I go to System Preferences > Print & Fax
Click the + to add a new printer
    Select the IP option
Choose the Protocol: Line Printer Daemon - LPD
    Type in the Address: 192.168.0.10
    Type in the Queue: hp5
Print Using: Generic PostScript Printer or better yet, 'Select a driver to use...'
and find the driver for your HP LaserJet 5MP.
Save it. Works like magic. ;-)

If you change the IP address or password on the DLink, just CYA and write it all down on a sticky note then tape the note under the DLink chassis. There's no reset button on the thing, and if you're o a Mac, you won't necessarily have access to the Windows utility to jack with the DP-300U. So, write it down, kidd-o!

    HP Laser Jet 1320n series

The HP LaserJet 1320 has a USB port and a Parallel port.

The HP LaserJet 1320n has a USB port and an Ethernet port.

USB-to-Parallel converter cables, like this one, are designed to attach a parallel device to a computer's USB port.

But you need to do the opposite (attach a USB device to a computer's parallel port). A USB-to-Parallel converter cable will not do this.
