I put oven setting at 350 but after 4 hrs. the turkey was nowhere near done. I used a meat thermometer on the oven and it registered at 297, again after 4 hrs! I called a repairman who said he might have to replace the circuit board for $300, almost half a new oven. Is this right?
If you have a bad ignitor this can happen, pull out the racks.lift out the floor of the stove and you'll see the ignitor, turn on the bake and set it to 350,the ignitor should start to glow, when it starts to glow count to 40,if it doesn't ignite the flame within 40 seconds you have a bad ignitor. part number 74007498 and it's around 60 dollars and is very easy to change out.you don't have to shut down the gas or anything crazy like that,if the new ignitor doesn't have the same connector that the old one has simply cut off the old wires close to the body of the old ignitor, splice the wires and connect them to the new ignitor and use the ceramic wire nuts to connect the wores with and you're done.,i must of changed over 40 ignitors over the last three weeks and none were the clock assy. so hopefully all you'll need is a new ignitor, have a great holiday.
Thank you for the info. Since you provided the part no., & directions, I will do that myself the next time. He actually changed the igniter on Monday ($120), and believing all was well, I tried to cook my turkey on Thurs., and had this problem.
if you look on the sears site that board is 170 dollarshttp://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdir... go here and look at part number 7c,when you set it to bake at 350 what happens, does the ignitor glow and then the flame should ignite in around 25 seconds once it starts to glow 25 to 30 seconds later it shold lite,if not tell me what it does.
that's great and not weird at all, just like a regular computer that has to be rebooted sometimes appliances have to be rebooted too.very happy for you

Okay, this may be wierd, but I bought a regular oven thermometer, unplugged the range, and plugged it back in again. I set the temp to 350 and it actually reached 350!! I guess it needed to reboot or something??? I just thought it was worth a shot and it worked! Thanks to everyone for you suggestions and help! Happy Holidays!
