My husqvarna 128ld starts and idles fast but only with the choke half on. Give it gas or take the choke off and it dies.

My husqvarna 128ld starts and idles fast but only with the choke half on. Give it gas or take the choke off and it dies. I have had it for at least two years and have only used husqvarna oil to mix with the gas. When not in use, I take the gas out of the trimmer.

SOURCE: I have a husqvarna 125L gas trimmer and dies after

Could be clogged gas cap. Take the cap off and see if you can blow air through it. If no air passes, the trimmer will become vapor locked and wont be able to get enough gas.

SOURCE: My brand new Husqvarna 128

Husqvarna is a good brand, if you are having trouble with running at full speed there is something inherently wrong with your unit you do not want to keep it around, it will lead to more problems in the future. I would recomend that you return it and purchase a Stihl they are very reliable if you want a machine that stands the test of time. Even a Weed-eater brand from Walmart will start better than the one you have right now and you will pay less or the same for a comparable unit, That will run great! Good Luck...

Brand new Husqvarna 128LD will start and run well for 20 to 30 minutes then run rough and die if I don't run it at half choke. Idles fine but when I give it power it dies.

Its running too lean on the carb mixture, you need to richen up the H screw on the carb, if not marked it will the adjusting screw furthest away from the cylinder, this will increase fuel to the engine if turned out ( anti clockwise ) you will be to purchase an adjustment tool, this is because there is no slot in the screw, it has a spline so the tool has an internal spline to fit the adjuster, the are readily available on e bay, once you have the tool, unscrew the adjuster onlt 5 minutes on a clock face.

HUSQVARNA 128LD WILL START RUN FOR A FEW SECONDS AND DIE.

You need to adjust your idle screws. Start at 1 and a half turns out for High and Low then go from there.

455 rancher runs with chock out 15 second and dies

Try opening the choke half way as soon as it starts then all the way open in a few seconds... It only needs the choke to start and should run fine in less than a minute after idleing with the choke not engaged...

Why wont my trimmer take gas after it starts ?

Open, turn ccw, the high 'H' speed jet screw about .3 of a turn while holding the throttle wide open at the trigger. Engine should increase spread andyou may have to adjust. Failing that and assuming correct oil/gas mix it will likely be carburetion, clogged fuel filter or bad fuel line.

My e series 142 spins the chain and idles insanely fast when I have the choke pulled out. Then when I give it throttle it calms down and then I can barely keep it idling. with throttle all the way pulled...

Check air filter- clean or replace, Make sure you have fresh fuel, A new spark while you are giving it a service, Do you know how to tune the saw? Start with basic settings 1 turn on the low and 1 turn on the high And adjust from there, You might have turned the idle up too high. The choke should always be fully in when saw is running. Hope this is a good start

Husqvarna SRM 225 It starts fine but dies once you give it gas.

I was having the same issue with my 128LD string trimmer. I called a local Husqvarna service dealer and they told me the issue was a result of the ethanol in the gas. They suggested I find ethanol-free gas (aka 'Pure Gas') and try it. [http://www.pure-gas.org/ was the best resource I could find for this]

After disposing of my old gas and filling the trimmer with premium grade, ethanol-free gas (with Husqvarna brand oil mix) and applying 3 squirts of carburetor cleaner to the carb, it runs radically better.

I hope that helps you too. I know how frustrating that can be.

Want start

Read the warm start procedure from the operators manual.
1. Pull choke (sets fast idle)
2. Push in choke (fast idle retained)
3. Make sure ignition is on, pull (usually once on my saw)
4. Advance throttle slightly to release fast idle.
I made the mistake ONCE of not setting the fast idle. My shoulder gets sore thinking about it. HTH
