If your new DSLR has the ability to be used in some mode with accessories like microscopes, telescopes, and the like (perhaps via T-adapters), you should be able to mount the lens via a screw-mount adapter for your brand. Unless the lens has a switch to make the aperture setting manual, though, or your adapter depresses the aperture pin on the lens, you will only be able to use it wide open. Generally, you should only expect to be able to use a manual exposure mode or perhaps an aperture priority mode.

Further, on some brands of camera (like Nikon), you will not be able to focus out to infinity with the lens with a simple adapter. While there are adapters that include an optical element to allow infinity focus, you should do some research to get one with good optical quality. The one made by Bower appears to do a decent job:

Other camera brands may be able to attain infinity focus with a simple adapter.

In general, adapting an older screw-mount lens to a newer body is going to require some constraints that are likely only worth the bother if the lens provides some capability you otherwise do not have in your current selection of lenses or is unique in some fashion. It would be, for example, a good way to obtain the use of a lens like the Sirius 500mm f/8.8 mirror lens, which uses the fixed f/8.8 aperture. It would be doubtful that adapting the Sirius 80-200mm f/3.9 zoom would make you happy, though, when a lens offered within your DSLR brand of similar speed would not cost much and could be used in all modes offered by the camera, and have autofocus as well.

What lens mount do you have on the lens? In other words, with what make film camera did you use the lens? A DSLR from the same company should be able to use the lens.

Do the old AF lenses for the Nikon N60 SLR fit the new DSLR cameras

Hi ericm675, Yes they will. What you run into is were one uses a auto focus lens on a newer digital such as a D40. Some of the new digital cameras do not have the drive gear to turn the autofocus on the lens. Those newer cameras use electronics. Look on your camera lens mount at 7:00 you will see the drive pin. Look on your old autofocus lens you should see a slot where that pin fits. Hope this helps you.

Pentax ES2; do bayonet lens fit digital Pentax SLR?

Any Pentax K-mount lens will fit any Pentax DSLR. The DSLR will fire the shutter.  There is a menu setting (RTFM) which allows the use of older lenses, but you will lose some of the automation (again RTFM). Remember to allow that the effective focal length when using a "film" lens on a DSLR body goes up by 50%.
A standard 50mm lens becomes a 75mm equivalent, but stays a large aperture.

Cameras compatible with Quantaray AF 70-300mm lens

Depending on how new your Minolta SLR film camera was, the lens may or may not work on a Minolta Digital SLR. In many cases, a lens with the correct mount (in this case, a Minolta mount) can be used on the same brand of camera in the digital format.

One thing you should know is that DSLR sensors are, generally speaking, smaller than the size of a 35mm film negative. Long story short, that means that your lens will have a magnification factor on the DSLR. Usually, it is in the range of 150%, so a 70-300 lens from a film camera would cover 105 to 450 on a Digital SLR.

To be sure about the mount, you'll need to seek advice specific to Minoltas -- probably best to take your lens to a local camera shop and see for sure if it fits and what features will work (aperature, auto-focus, etc) and which won't work on the DSLR.

Olympus om-2 cvamera lenses

You are able to use your old OM lenses with a new Olympus digital SLR camera. You will need to purchase an MF-OM 1 lens adapter to be able to connect these lenses to the digital SLR camera. Also when using these lenses you will only be able to use the camera in manual focus mode as these lenses are not capable to shhot with an auto focus mode.

Olympus Cameras

You can use the lens from your old OM camera on the EVOLT E-410. You would need to purchase an MF-OM-1 adapter to make those lenses fit the new digital SLR camera. Also when using those lenses the camera would need to be used in Manual mode as there is no auto focus capability when using the old OM lenses.

here is a link to an ebay search for minolta to canon eos adapter, they sell for just about every camera. i know it sucks, buying a new camera that wont work with your favorite lens, but i think you might be better served focusing (couldnt help myself) on camera features and pricing. i own a canon dslr and love it. sigma has a cool dslr. it has a three layer image sensor, with a removable on sensor ir filter. the ir filter thing is really cool.
