I don't see a reset button. I pressed the Func button and now the same words are backward and upside down! Maybe it is possessed, haha! But thanks anyway!I don't see a reset button. FIPS are 5 digit codes..the 1st two codes are for the state: the last three are for the county. This link allows you to find both state and county for your area: http://www.epa.gov/enviro/html/codes/state.html
Antenna connected? Station off air due to bad weather? Is the 'squelch' set to you hear static, then turn it back just to where it stops hissing? Try that and let me know.
You can try pressing "Manual" and then "Scan" or "Band" buttons from the weather setting to get you back to scanning the police, fire, etc.
Make sure you don't have a WX (Weather) frequency programmed into on of the regular 50 channels or the scanner will continue to stop every time around as it will pick up the WX frequency.
Make sure you have your scanner programmed as well.
Are you sure that the frequencies you programmed are active in your area? Try a weather band search (press Func and Svc) to verify that the scanner is working properly. If you receive one or more NOAA weather broadcast channels then you need to visit www.RadioReference.com and check their database for active freqs in your area. If you cannot receive weather then you have an antenna or receiver problem.
Weather frequencies are factory programmed into the PRO-2018. Just press the weather button to start scanning them. You can also program one or more manually if you wish. For a list of NOAA weather broadcast frequencies, follow this link:
http://www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr/indexnw.htm
Need the manual for your scanner? You can download/print it here:
The NOAA weather frequencies have constant broadcasts, so your scanner "locks" onto them. The only ways to prevent this are to either delete the weather frequency or lock it out. To delete, just program the frequency "0.0" (zero point zero) into the channel. To lock it out, press the L/O key while on the weather freq.
You can get the manual for your radio at Radioshack.com. Enter your model number in the search field at the top of the home page at that site. The fips codes for your area can be found at radioreference.com. They may even be included in your manual. I know they are listed in the manual for my pro 164 scanner.
You are probably out of range of the other 5 channels for your area or your area may only have 2 Weather channels. I can sometimes get 4 here in the Los Angeles area but most of the time only 2. It depends on what the broad cast conditions are.
