Why wont my Bolens 824A Snowblower stay running ? When I prime it by putting gas in the spark plug whole it will stay running for a few seconds only until that gas runs out. It has new gas and I just replaced the gas line and the rubber hose to the primer. The hose to the primer seems to be a slight bit loose though.

All of these possibilities
blocked hose ot tank tap
blocked needle and seat
blocked main jet
Also, trying running some SeaFoam in your oil and fuel to clean or remove water in the fuel..also verify sparkplug gap..cheers

SOURCE: 6 yr old mower starts, won't run

sounds like a plugged high speed jet in carb - you can attempt to prime again , push at least 7-8 times - once it fires continue to push primer to keep running - it may clear out the carb if this doesnt work the carb will need to be removed and cleaned

SOURCE: Mower will not stay running unless primer button

The tube in the bottom of the carb. is probably clogged. Remove the carb, and bowl and try spraying WD-40 through the tube, it should spray into the venturi if it doesn't try using a tip cleaner to unclog the tube.

SOURCE: Bolens 4.5 Briggs and Stratton: I prime the carb

Be sure the fuel is fresh....meaning, fresh from the gas station. IF that doesn't fix it, replace the carb.

SOURCE: PRIMER BULB WONT PRIME

I would recheck the carburetor to make sure you put the diaphragms next to the carburetor and not the gaskets.
Please if it is not priming you may have the fuel lines hooked up wrong. Also check the fuel cap to make sure the vent assembly is there. If the tank is not venting, the tank will get a vacuum in it not allowing fuel to flow.

Im the girl asking about my fuel line for my tiller bolens 31cc tiller BL410 I put newlines &new bulb on! Want stay running, changed lines around, cleaned screen but want stay running but few seconds

If it is a 2 cycle motor, check the spark arrest or screen in the muffler. It is a fine screen and the oil in the exhaust leaves a carbon buildup that will plug up the screen. It can be cleaned with a brass wire brush or carb cleaner.

Ohv 179cc snowblower engine will not start

I'd check to make sure any fuel shut off valve (often "inline" or located directly under the tank) is open or on. Check or replace any inline fuel filter as well. If your snowblower has a priming bulb, you should hear gasoline spritzing after the second or third full press. More presses will probably cause gas to drip out of the carb to the ground. Next, check the spark plug. Clean or optionally replace it - set / check proper gap. With the plug out (and the spark plug wire away from the spark plug's threaded opening in the engine) pull the starting cord several times, and then check for the smell of gasoline in the cylinder. If no gas odor, you may have a bad float in the carb or other blockage. It will not run until you can get fuel into the cylinder. You can try pouring a few drops of gas into the cylinder of the engine via the spark plug opening or give it a "quick blast" of aerosol starting fluid or ether. Reinstall the spark plug and try again. If you added fuel, starting fluid or ether, the engine should have either attempted to run or sputtered briefly or is actually running. If it did neither, check for spark. Remove the spark plug wire from the spark plug and insert the tip of a screwdriver into the boot on the end of the spark plug wire and position the screwdriver's shaft to within 1/4" of the top of the spark plug. Be sure to only hold the screwdriver by the insulated handle (do not come in contact with the metal shaft of the screw driver) and pull the starting cord again. You should see a spark jump to the spark plug. If none, you may have a bad spark plug wire or magneto - and need to clean or replace it. before trying again. Good luck!

Poulan snowblower won't start; it backfires and sometimes starts but only lasts a few minutes if lucky; I've replaced spark plug and gas.....no luck

Gotta take the Bowl off the carburetor and see if the Jet is Plugged up.
Today's Ethanol gas ills carburetors. New gas wont help a gummed up carb from leftover old gas.

John Deere Snowblower 1032 won't start. Obvious solution?

First dump the old gas and put in fresh. Clean or replace spark plug.
Put a squirt of starting fluid in the carb. If it fires the ignition system is good. Do this a few times because there is still old gas in the float bowl and fuel line. When the fresh gas gets to the carb it will stay running. If it did not fire with starting fluid the points and condensor will need to be replaced and maybe the coil.

Check the fuel line to the tank, and see if another one is inside, maybe it fell off, or it's filter is clogged.

You are not getting fuel to the carb take it off and give it a good cleaning, paying attention to the small orifices. Many times on older units the float bowl screw on the carb has an orifice that is always the culprit give it a try . Good Luck

4 cycle snowblower wont start

clean the carb's insides. It's probably gooped up with gummy gas. I like B-12 Chem Tool. Its a spray cleaner from Auto Zone about $4. Others kinds are ok but this is good stuff.
