Why won't my answerphone work properly?

I have my answerphone set up, but never receive messages. When I ring the phone from my mobile it goes to the standard phone company voicemail instead of playing my greeting message.

Either you must set your home answering machine to answer on fewer rings OR disable the phone company's message system.

When dialing the mobile number on our samsung genio slide gt b5310 we get a message telling us this has been diverted to the o2 messaging service. the mobile does not ring. how can i get the phone to ring?...

If it has diverted straight to the answerphone this means that either there are calls being blocked (check settings > phone settings > call barring (reject list etc.)) or that there is a problem with the network/sim card. Only your network will be able to tell you the exact issue but it also may be blacklisted if you have only just got it. Also bars on sim being used etc.

How do i reduce the number of rings before the call goes to answerphone? The phone is ringing about 8 times before it switches to the answerphone and I would like this to be about 4 rings

usually there is a small slide switch on the side of the answering machine that you can use to control how many rings before it answers. if that is a new digital model you will likely have to go into the menu to set it up. often your choices are two, four or toll saver.

Not receiving faxes

make sure your answering machine is plugged in to the "EXT" jack on fax machine, and your main line plugged into "line". try setting fax rings to 1 or 2. set your answering machine to 4. your fax should intercept the call and if it hears the fax tone, will receive the fax. if it doesn't hear the fax tone, it should forward the call to your answering m/c.

We have an se445 cordless phone/answerphone. with answerphone on, the line rings 4 times then stops briefly before continuing to ring instead of cutting onto answerphone. BT line has been checked and gain...

Regarding the Philips SE445 cordless phone/answerphone. I posted my problem where it rings 4 times then continues to ring without cutting into the answerphone. My phone is now fixed and working as it should which is great. I was unable to make calls because I had no dial tone and although Virgin checked my line and said it was fine, it obviously wasn't. The problem was with the line in the Exchange Box - the big green boxes that are located on the roadside - the line was broken there. Once fixed, I had my dial tone and the SE445 is working perfectly. To nomad1066, I would insist that BT check their Exchange Boxes as this is probably where the problem lies. Check whether you have a dial tone. Hope this helps.
