How can I get a Blu-Ray disc reader and writer for this laptop?
They are not like a 3.5 hard drive or a 5.25 dvd rom for PC which are a national standard. For the most part there are two differences in height. One is a slimline, one is a super slimline. I have seen people who have the rom sticking out because it was made for the company. So what you have to do is remove it and measure it. Now comes the part of finding one, then you have to make sure the dimensions, and the interface are the same, most are old IDE. Very new is "usually' Sata.
This is why you have to remove it, put it back if you need to use it, then search.
Now it's not like a dvd rom 5.25 where almost everyone sells them.
The best thing is to do a search, say you find it's a slim, Sata interface.
So you search, laptop dvd blu ray internal slimline, this is just an example.
You can start at a place called tigerdirect, and Ebay.
Most everyone will tell you to go external, if you mess up you wasted all the money. Not easy to remove, it's not like I can explain how to dissemble it here. Some are a nightmare to pull out. Then there are MFG that don't give you any tech info or a diagram so you end up figuring it out.
Most people who can do this, wouldn't be posting this question, they would know what to do.
Good luck, and if you have problems, remember it's not my fault, as I don't recommend you do it.
Best solution is an external USB Drive
Bad answer! You shouldn't call yourself a fixya expert if that's the kind of help you can provide.
