VCR keeps ejecting the tape

We've had this Sony VHS player for years. Last week, I borrowed a VHS tape from the local library for my daughter. The next day, I couldn't get the machine to work. Is there a solution you know of? I don't have the $$ right now to get a new machine. Thanks!

It needs Belts/Idler/Pinch roller.. If you UNPLUG IT, remove the cover you can wind the tape back manually....When you can get a DVD player.

Why does vcr/dvd vr2945 keeps ejecting the vhs tape?

ELECTRO MED SERVICES is partially correct with his answer but I'm pretty sure it's not going to be that complicated. First unplug the unit remove the cover and use 90% isopropal alcohol on a cotton swab or q-tip and clean off all of the metal pins that stick up and ride against the tape while it plays, then clean off the big rubber roller that pinches the tape to pull the tape at the correct speed. this is where most often the problem lies. the tape will get sticky and will bind up slightly. Then a there's a sensor on the left side that puts tension on the tape, if that sensor feels the tape is being pulled to hard and has no slack it will shut the player down and eject the tape. Another thing try another tape, that tape may have some hard rolling hubs or spindles. You can also try fast forwarding the tape to the end and then rewind it to make sure its not just rewound with something rubbing inside the tape case it's self. Sometimes the tape case will get deformed over years and it will rub on the tape spools inside and it will cause that sensor to trip when the tape starts to become hard to pull through the player. Also you can clean the big silver head but be careful no make sure you leave no residue on it. look at it with a magnifiying glass to make sure it's cleaned and free of any residue. 1 last thing that happens also is the automatic tape head cleaner will act up and cause problems, you can easily just remove that from the player and see if thats the culprit.

My daughter put a vhs in her vcr/dvd combi. Now the vhs is chewed and stuck so it won't come out and the tv and dvd player automatically shut off

Take dvd/vcr combo aparts.Turn on the power to the machine, one hand move around the inter eject vcr port for those sensors, the other hand just keep pushing the eject button, keep doing this until the tape eject and come out.

I have a Sylvania 6240VE vcr. When I try to rewind a recorded tape, the vcr ejects the video. I was wanting to purchase a dvd/vcr combo, but the reviews for these items are awful. I tried a Magnavox combo....

When you put the player into rewind, is it at the beginning of the tape that it ejects? If so, it may be because you have the machine in timer mode. If you have a pre-recorded tape in a VCR, it will automatically eject the tape because you`ve not to record on a pre-recorded tape. I hope this help, Ian
