First step is to let it drain completely and then plug it in once fully dead to see if it resets itself and clears the problem. If that doesn't work the next step
Soft Reset: Plug it in to the computer. If the computer recognizes it you can likely reset it. to do that push and holding the back and up buttons together.
Hard Reset: this will erase the information on your zune and restore it to factory settings with no information on it. Your information will be re-synced when you plug it back in to your comptuer.

30GB Zune Froze

A co-worker of mine may have found a solution. But it is risky, since you have to open your Zune. Since his Zune has already no warranty, he carefully opened it, unplugged the battery cable and waited a few seconds, plugged it again and restarted.

The device is now working! we're listening to it right now and the computer recognized it. It seems like a solution to me! (If you have no problems opening your Zune). there is this video and some others on youtube that can instruct you on opening your Zune: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBL0lPBpC3I

I'm about to do it now. Good luck!

Zune 80 gig will not start

My 80 Zune has a frozen screen as well... This is ludicrous! Well this is how this problem should be resolved:

  1. Disconnect your Zune from USB and AC power sources.
  2. Because the player is frozen, its battery will drain—this is good. Wait until the battery is empty and the screen goes black. If the battery was fully charged, this might take a couple of hours.
  3. Wait until after noon GMT on January 1, 2009 (that's 7 a.m. Eastern or 4 a.m. Pacific time).
  4. Connect your Zune to either a USB port on the back or your computer or to AC power using the Zune AC Adapter and let it charge.
I cannot believe the savvy programmers for Zune did not identify this problem in advance... Well I guess we are all human lol... Can't wait to begin listening to my music again!

Have a Happy New Year!

Zune Froze, erased content, and wont sync with PC.

Yes. There are several solutions to this. Rather than retype them, you may want to check out the forums at www.zune.net or support.microsoft.com.

Most likely you'll have to remove the Zune software from the PC, re-install it, reset the Zune.... I think you get the picture.

Zune files deleted

Try enabling your Windows XP to see your Zune as an external hard drive. This will allow you to browse the contents of your Zune and recover any music that might be on it.
