Hi nitwit2,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your problem is: Dishwater not filling with water when switched on.

Electric on? Good. 9 times out of 10 it's a bad solenoid valve. It's under the d/w behind the kickplate on the left. I don't recomend this repair for the average homeowner. You might look in the Repair Directory for a repairman. If you're up to it, I find removing the d/w from the cabinet facilitates installation.

Lg Dishwater will not hold water

If it fills then drains then it will be a flood switch/water level sensor issue.

What is the float switch

I have no real experience with float switches on dishwashers, but have with some in humidifiers. It's a piece of styrofoam on a narrow metal stick that lifts when the appliance fills with water & lowers when the water empties. If this gets stuck on something, like a dishwasher rack, the unit won't fill or empty the water & the cycles won't work properly. Take a look & see if there is such a thing hung up somewhere in the dishwasher. If you can loosen it, your dishwasher should work again.

Dishwater will not fill...no water. Used to work okay Electric valve clogged? Are they cleanable?

Not cleanable.Must replace. But check them first. They don/'t fail very often. Also check the obvious.Someone might have shut water off. Check for voltage at the fill solonoid .If voltage available then replace. If no voltage , Check ,door switch and, waterlevel switch. If ok, look at timer or controller.

My dishwater is not filling with water

Check the water supply line for flow, check if there is power to intake solonoid. If you have power during water fill cycle, the solonoid is either clogged or bad.

Water keeps filling even if dishwater is off or if the door is open, the only way to stop it is from turning tap valve off below the sink.

Your dishwasher water fill valve is defective. Remove power from the DW. Remove the bottom toe kick panel. The water valve has the incoming water line connected to it.Remove the wires from the valve. If the water stops entering you have a bad timer. If it makes no difference you have a bad valve. The valve is a replaceable part. The timer is a replaceable part.

I have a Dishlex Global 500 dishwasher (DX500lWW*b). Woke up the other night to find water all over my kitchen floor. The hot water hose connector to the hot water tap split (bursted). The dishwater was...

I found this

"Hi - answer I was given by Electrolux Help was: pull machine out from under bench onto old towel, tip GENTLY onto left hand side (your left as you face the front of the machine) after it has drained, stand up gently, put back & turn on. Apparently it is the overflow trough reading as full ('oF' Overflow). Then run through some dishwasher descaler or Finish dishwasher cleaner. Worked for me."
