How to install the wi-fi WPA2 on the notebook

I would like to dowload the software so the my notebook will be running WPA2 instead of WEP. I am running windows XP and have SP2 installed on it. I download SP3 to see if that would change it to WPA2 but it did not. I went to the microsoft updates and tried to down load the patch, but it kept telling me that my service pack as a newer version and that It could not be installed. Can you help me

Wi-fi pasword connot conect to wi-fi

Network security key
Some later model wireless routers have the Password (ie.Encryption key) and the SSID already configured in the wireless router and this information is printed on a label on the bottom of the router.
These settings can be used to configure the wireless card and wireless adapters in your computer/laptop.
If these settings do not suit you, then it can be changed to suit your requirements.
The encryption key secures your data and wireless connection from unauthorized access. To configure the wireless settings in the router, connect a LAN cable from your computer to the wireless router, then open a Browser on your computer and enter the router's configuration IP address, then enter the admin login and password and then go to the wireless settings and configure the SSID and Encryption key.
The router's encryption key can be a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA or WPA2 key.If you use the Passphrase method select either WEP or WPA or WPA2 to generate the encryption key. You can enter the WEP or WPA or WPA2 key with 8 to 63 ASCII characters or 64 Hex digits.
Most people use Passphrase which is easier to remember eg. I was born in January 1988.
The strongest and latest security is WPA2, the weakest and oldest is WEP. To connect to your wireless router from the computer/laptop, configure the wireless card in your computer/laptop with the router's wireless settings ie SSID, plus the WPA or WPA2 encryption key. Then computer/laptops can communicate with your wireless router. http://www.fixya.com/support/r10267861-network_security_key

I just changed modem and now have a WPA2 key instead of the WEP that came with my older modem. Now I cannot hook up my PSP3000 to my computer so that I may use the Wi-Fi, what can I do as there is no...

You should be able to change the wireless encryption to WEP. The issue may be the speed too. 802.11b is the PSP spec and the newer modems might not offer that anymore.

How do I connect my iphone to my wifi in my home? I have a belkin wireless router

You will need to know what encryption method is being used. Assuming you are using 802.11(a/b/g/n) it will be WEP, or WPA / WPA2 with a preshared KEY (PSK) or TKIP.

If it is WEP, you will need to copy the entire key from your router's wireless configuration page. Then on your iPhone, click Settings, Wi-Fi then select your network and enter the WEP key.

If you are using WPA or WPA2 with a pre-shared key, select that option and enter your key and it should connect immediately.

If your network is not being broadcast then you will need to manually enter the settings under Settings, Wi-Fi, Other.

What is the wep password

The encryption key secures your data from unauthorized access.
The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router'swireless settings configured ie SSID, WPA or WPA2 encryption key and also thewireless cards in all the laptops and or computers needs to be configured withthese router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers cancommunicate with your wireless router.

In network settings for bd c6500 it says "due to change of a wifi policy , cannot support the tkip security type in 802.11n mode." What does this mean.

The Wi-Fi Alliance has a timetable for eliminating outdated WEP and TKIP security from certified Wi-Fi devices: The Wi-Fi Alliance is eliminating older encryption methods from the certification process for new hardware.
TKIP and WEP won't be allowed in new devices with the Wi-Fi stamp in a staged elimination over three years starting in 2011.
Anyone reading this should be well aware that WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy), the original local-link encryption standard in 802.11b, has been broken since 2001, and horribly so since 2003.
TKIP (Temporal Key Integrity Protocol) was a backwards compatible replacement introduced in 2003, and intended to work with older silicon that didn't have either the circuits or computing ability to handle WEP's real replacement, AES-CCMP ( AES-Counter Mode CBC-MAC Protocol). AES (also from 2003) is often called WPA2 encryption, although it's more particularly an encryption type that's part of WPA2.
In a nutshell, they're doing away with WEP and TKIP
The 802.11n standard only allows the use of AES keys.So you'll probably have to connect at 802.11b, or g speeds and settings. Might try to Right click on your Wireless Network Connection and select Properties.
Select Wireless Networks Tab
Enable the checkbox "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings"
Click OK
Doesn't seem to bode well for XP users for the moment.
Hope this helps you.
Good luck
Hope this helps you

My wi fi is not connected. How do I do that/

I picked 1 up for the first time and connected in 2 minutes.
In settings page where you add a wireless connection, you will need to know..
Security type, mine was wpa2 ( may be wpa/wpa2/wep)
SSID, your network name that is transmitted, mine was default
password, whatever the wireless password you chose with wpa, if you have wep, it gives you a pass key, you will need to log onto your router to get this

Lol whi-fi? You need to read up on WEP (Wired Equivalence Protection) WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) and WPA2 to learn about it. Then you need to login to your router usually using 192.168.0.1 or whatever I.P. (Internet Protocol) Address your router has. Use your default password (provided with your manual) and set a different password after inside. Read your manual to understand where to set your WEP or WPA Passwords. Keep in mind WEP despite the name is not Equivalent to Wired Connections. WEP can be cracked withing 1-2 minutes. WPA and WPA2 can be cracked as well if it is using a PSK Handshake. Do a little homework and read your owners manual. Understand the risk.
