Hi Moya,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC24. If the brushbar won't rotate, it may simply need resetting. Please follow the steps shown in the video below to reset it - make sure you have the cleaner reclined into the vacuuming position before testing it, as the brushbar will never run when the cleaner is standing upright.

However, if this doesn't restart the brushbar, it's best if you get in touch with us directly so we can help. You can call us free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Kind regards,

Jack

How do I fix the brush bar reset button on Dyson DC24?

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

The reset button will not remain depressed after it's been pushed. Instead, you should hear and feel a click when pressed - it can help to use something like the eraser-end of a pencil. The steps are shown in our video guide below:

If you've been unable to reset the cleaner head after pressing the reset button as shown, or if you're worried the reset button isn't working correctly, please get in touch as we should be able to help you further.

You can reach the Dyson Customer Helpline directly by calling us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU). Please have your DC24 to hand when you call so we can take you through some troubleshooting checks.

Brush bar doesn't rotate dc24

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC24's brush bar is engineered to shut off for protection if something jams it. Once you've checked the cleaner head for any obstructions, and removed any threads or hair from around the brush bar, you should be able to reset your machine as shown in our video guide:

It may help to use something like the eraser-end of a pencil to press the red reset button - you should feel a click as it engages.

Please note, the brush bar will never rotate when your machine is standing upright. Make sure you recline your DC24 into the normal vacuuming position before testing it.

I'm confident this will resolve the issue, but if you would like some further advice from our experts, please call us directly on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Change belt

Hi Christine, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC24 has a belt engineered to last the lifetime of the machine. It's protected by a sensor which shuts off the brush bar if something jams it. If your machine's brush bar isn't rotating, please follow the steps shown in the video I've attached.

Tip: Use something like the eraser end of a pencil to press the red reset button. You should feel a click as you press it.

Please note: the brush bar will never rotate when the machine is standing upright, so make sure you recline it into the vacuuming position before testing it.

I'm confident this should resolve the issue, but if you would like some further help from our experts, you can reach us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (US). If a repair or replacement part is needed, we can confirm if this covered under your vacuum's 5-year warranty.

Best wishes,

Does it have drive belt

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.
DC24 doesn't use a traditional, replaceable drive belt. The belt is engineered to last the lifetime of the machine, protected my a mechanism which shuts off the brush bar if something jams it.
If your brush bar is not rotating, it's likely your machine will just need resetting. Please follow the steps shown in the video attached to do this. We'd recommend using something like the eraser-end of a pencil to press the reset button - you should feel a 'click' when pressed correctly. Please ensure that the machine is reclined into the vacuuming position before you test it, as the brush bar will never rotate when it's standing upright.
I'm confident this will get your machine up and running again. For any additional advice after you've tried this, please get in touch with us directly so we can confirm if we can help under the terms of the machine's 5-year guarantee. You can reach us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Dyson dc14 brush bar is not turning at all. Everything else seems to be fine. I just replaced the brush bar but still no movement. What else could it be?

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your DC14 Animal. If the brushbar doesn't rotate, please check you have the brush control set to 'Carpets', not 'Hard floors'. The brushbar will not rotate when the machine is standing upright, so please recline it into the vacuuming position before testing it.
If this doesn't resolve the issue, please give our Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US), so we can provide further assistance.

No reset button for brushes

Hi there,

To locate the reset button on your DC24, please check the left-hand side of the cleaner head when the machine is facing you. It's set within a red recess - the video below may help.

If you're sure there is no reset button on the cleaner head, you may have a different Dyson upright. Please visit www.dyson.com and click 'Support' to identify your machine from the list. Our online Support guides should then be useful in resolving your issue.

Alternatively, we'll be happy to confirm which machine you own, and run you through the correct reset process, if you give our Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US). Please have the machine to hand when you call.

Best wishes,

Dyson DC24 roller bar doesn't work from first try - and this is my second one

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC24.

Your machine has two switches on it's upper body - a red on/off switch, and a silver brush control switch. When you press the red on/off switch and recline the machine into the vacuuming position, the brushbar should rotate automatically - you do not need to turn the brushbar on manually every time you use the cleaner. If you want to vacuum a hard floor or a delicate rug, you can turn the brushbar off using the silver brush control switch.

It's important to note that the brushbar will never rotate when the cleaner is standing in the upright position.

If you find that the brushbar will not rotate when you turn the machine on and recline it into the vacuuming position, the brushbar may need resetting. For directions on doing this, please follow the steps shown in the video below. When pressing the reset button in the red recess on the side of the cleaner head, it may help to use something like the eraser-end of a pencil, and to push it in until you hear and feel an audible 'click'.

This should resolve the issue, but if you need any further assistance, please call us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1866MDYSON (US), so we can help you.

Kind regards,

Jack

The carpet beater doesn't work and we have pressed the red button on the side aswell but still doesn't work any ideas ?

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC24. Your cleaner is equipped with a safety device which shuts off the brushbar if it gets tangled with a rug fringe, shoelace etc. After making sure the brushbar is free of threads, hair or other obstructions, you should be able to reset the cleaner and get the brushbar running again. Although I note you've already pressed the reset button, I'd recommend using something like the blunt end of a pencil to depress the button, and making sure you push it in firmly until you hear an audible 'click'.

Please note, the brushbar will never rotate when the cleaner is standing in the upright position, or if you've turned it off using the silver switch next to the red on/off switch.

Hopefully this should resolve your issue. However, if you're still having difficulties, please get in touch with us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US). One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you and provide the assistance you need.

Kind regards
