Tone arm keeps returning to rest on Crosley CR249

I raise the cue lever and put the tone arm at the starting position. The record starts turning then the tone arm swings back to the rest arm(without playing the record)but doesn't lower to the rest position. Will not play the record and will not let me lower the tone arm to play the record manually. If I keep trying it it will work sometimes. How do I fix this?

I had a similar problem, and I just put some WD-40 on the arm and it worked.

Hi, Try this. with it turned off. Lift tone arm across a record to the run out groove and set it down. Now power up and hopefully it will reset itself. In all honesty I would sell it and get a decent old school player. John. Styluscity.com

Crosley turn table is not spinning. Tried replacing belt and moving cue lever to right then left. Think it might be the arm or cue lever. Does anyone have an idea what the problem is or a solution?

Since it is new, you should probably return for refund or exchange.
My guess would be it is the micro switch controlled by the arm.
Make sure the power is turned on and the unit's function selection is set on PHONO and then gently move the tone arm to the right until you hear a "click". Remove any cassettes that might be in the cassette player. Lift the tone arm and carry it over to the beginning of the record.

How can I stop the tone arm from returning too early on smaller records?

The adjustment for auto return position is normally at the tone arm base on the left side under a rubber grommet. Use a flat blade screw driver to move adjustment screw, then test. Keep fine tuning until arm lifts at desired position. Cheers John. Stylus City NZ

Turn table doesn't start when tone arm is lifted

Did it used to start when you lifted the tonearm?

Many turntables start when the arm is moved over the record.

How do you shift to play records. When I turn to phono on dial it turns the unit off. I have a radio cd player with CR24 turntable

Move the tone arm off the rest on to the record and it will start to spin. There is a switch that turns the player off when the tone arm is on the rest.

The wires connecting the play stop & cue have come loose on my optimus LAB 1100. I need a diagram to show me where to hook them up PLEASE!!!

The Levitator is a tone arm "auto lifter" for turn tables and record players that do not have an "auto-return" feature, or has one that is broken. If your needle rides in the "wax trail-off" area of a record it can damage the needle, along with making a horrible noise. It is not enjoyable to have to babysit your records and manually take your tone arm off the record the moment it is done. The Levitator does it for you so you can relax and go about your business. When the record is done the tone arm trips the lever triggering the lifter to raise your tone arm/needle off the record. It is designed with adjustable height to fit any turntable. These are available for sale through Ebay,or please see video to order your own. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PS6g9rQRF9M&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL

Tonearm lifter in UP position - how to fix

I have also had this problem with the same model turntable. I opened mine up and the problem seems to have been that the grease on the arm lift and cueing lever was gumming up the linkage between the two. (I suspect that my turntable hadn't been used in some time.) I managed to free up the parts by manually working the the arm lift (pressing it down) several times. I'm not sure that I needed to open up the chasis for this fix but it did help me to see what was going on. Good luck with yours.

Tone Arm skips past first song

Hello, A. Do not try to close the case when there is a record inside!! The fact that the turntable cannot do this is not a design flaw--you'll be hard pressed to find a portable turntable that can close with a record inside because if you were to pick up the player with one inside, it could easily slip off of the spindle and scratch against the sides of the player.
B. Are you using the cueing lever to lift the tone arm before you place it on the record? Read the instructions to see where the cuing lever is (it's a little switch on the right side of the tone arm). When you lift it, the tone arm will lift up and allow you to position it wherever you want on a record, then you depress the lever to make the tone arm touch the record and being playing.
I hope that helps!

Kenwood KD 3070 turntable

There should be a set screw that you can tighten in order to adjust the height return. If you do not have anything like this, perhaps your record is raised too much. How thick is your rubber mat? Do you have any other mats sitting on top of this?
