Dr-9080c tray lifts up and down - Canon DR-9080C Path-Through Scanner

  • Anonymous Nov 07, 2011

I turn the machin on and no errors. I press count only and lay a stack of papers in the tray. I press the green ok button and the tray lifts up till the paper touches the 2 big rubber rollers and they go slightly up (about an 1/8th inch). The the trays goes all the way back down and does not perform the count?

IT could be a problem with the paper sensor. Please clean the sensor in the paper tray, it looks like a 'black dot' .

I tried that with no change. The solution that worked and I don't know why, was to flip the right 2 dip switches in the back of machine when you are facing the back of the machine. I knew my board was bad so I replaced it from another machine. I notice the dip switches were aligned differnetly. After hours and hours of switching parts to no avail, i flipped those switches to match the old motherboard and immediately started working.

CANON DR-9080C TRAY MOTOR BUZZES THEN I GET AN ERROR THAT SAYS NO PAPER FOUND.CLEANDED THE SENSOR WINDOW, CHECKED ALL THE CONNECTIONS BUT STILL NOT FIXED.

Hi Marc,
***Make sure that you plugged the cable that comes from the camera detect PCB (sensor) into the document board assy (metal part under the plastic tray).*** You said you checked all the connections, but I would recheck them, and trace them all the way through the metal lift mechanism...the cabling has junctions that run through the metal box all the way across to the right side of the machine and plug into the 10Sub PCB. You will have to remove the metal lift mechanism and unplug to cables from the 10Sub PCB. You will also have to separate the upper and lower parts of the metal box. You might as well clean the metal box out, check the plastic gears, make sure the motor is plugged in, and regrease the plastic gears if they look like they need it. Check the wiring for crimps or breaks too. When you reassemble the box, make sure that the black "U" shaped photo interrupter doesn't get knocked out of place. If everything still looks ok, I would replace the sensor and retest. The buzzing noise from the lift tray may or may not be related. There is a stepping motor in the lift tray assy that could have a problem. Order them both, they are pretty cheap.

Hope that helps...let me know

Why doesn't the feed tray lift on my Canon DR-9080?

Check the inadequate Cable harness (normally purple loom) under the metal lifter . You will need to remove the plastic entry tray to see the metal lifter mechanism which is quite difficult.

Paper tray at front of scanner will not lift. Scanner has been reset multiple times and computer rebooted as well. Error msg= unknown error canon DR-6080/7880/9080C driver versioin 1.3.10502.17001 (-4523)

Disconnect the scanner from the Comp, Try 'page counting'. If the papers go through, then you know feed mechanism is okay. if the tray is not lifting, then you have a problem. Use Qumatool software and check if the tray is lifting. If the scanner tray if lifting then the motor is okay, if not, the lifting motor may need a check. If the motor is okay, but tray not lifting means the sensor in the paper tray is faulty. Check this out.

Feeder tray not lifting

The paper tray is lifted by set of levers under the tray and the levers are operated by a motor, under the display panel. Check if the levers are in position. The motor movement is transferred to the lever by a plastic gear. Check if it is deformed. Normally motor does not fail.

My Canon Dr-9080C isnt pulling the paper into the scanner. The input try elevates, and then returns to it's original position, without the paper being pulled into the scanner, as if there wasn't any paper...

The scanner is assuming there is no paper. Just under the rubber rollers, in the paper tray there is a paper sensor. Clean that area with a damp cloth. Keep some papers and try "count-only". It it works then sensor is okay, else, you need to check the sensor.

Canon DR-9080c scanner not lifting error no page found in feeder

There is a paper sensor just under the rolers in the lifting tray. Clean the area thoroughly with a damp cloth. Keep some sheets and try ]count only'. If it works then the sensor is okay, then you can try your scanning. If it is not sensing paper, check the sensor or connections to the sensor.
