IT could be a problem with the paper sensor. Please clean the sensor in the paper tray, it looks like a 'black dot' .

I tried that with no change. The solution that worked and I don't know why, was to flip the right 2 dip switches in the back of machine when you are facing the back of the machine. I knew my board was bad so I replaced it from another machine. I notice the dip switches were aligned differnetly. After hours and hours of switching parts to no avail, i flipped those switches to match the old motherboard and immediately started working.

I turn the machin on and no errors. I press count only and lay a stack of papers in the tray. I press the green ok button and the tray lifts up till the paper touches the 2 big rubber rollers and they go slightly up (about an 1/8th inch). The the trays goes all the way back down and does not perform the count?
