After a power failure, during which my AT&T 18118 Digital answering system speakerphone worked perfectly I now do not receive any messages. The generic message picks up after 2 rings, but does not record. MY message is still in the system, but does not come on. If I check the setup button F5 displays. Don't know what it means or how to fix it. I have changed the batteries and it does not help.

SOURCE: AT&T EP5962 (5.8GHz digital Plus 2 Line)

I just had a similar problem with the "mailbox is busy" message while trying to retrieve messages. Instead of unplugging the power source as someone else suggested, I was able to solve the problem by unplugging the telephone line from the back of the phone. I was then able to retrieve messages. Then I plugged the telephone line back in and everything is working fine. This might work for your problem as well.

SOURCE: I have a Speakerphone/answering system

Hello,

what you are to do to solve this problem is to delete all or some vice mail message on the phone

Here are the step below

I want to do this! What's This?

The speaker phone Voice mail Service is a service provided by the Corp. that allows you to store and check voice mail messages on your home land line phone. Of course, because the size of the voice mail in box is not unlimited, you will eventually need to delete some of your stored messages to make way for new ones. Fortunately, this process is not overly difficult, and you can accomplish it with a simple phone call.
Instructions

  1. 1 Dial your home phone number from your home land-line. This will bring you to the main menu of the speaker phone voice mail system.
  2. 2 Press the "*" key on your phone, and input your password when prompted by the computerized voice.
  3. 3 Press "1" to begin a playback of all your stored messages.
  4. 4 Press "7" to delete each message in turn. Continue to press "7" at each message until all the messages in your voice mail in box are deleted.
then your phone will work fine again

thank for using fixua.

Using the speaker on the base to make/answer calls

Unless your model specifically says it's a speakerphone, you can't do that. The base mic and speaker are only there for recording your outgoing message and listening to your messages. If it is a speakerphone, there should be a button on the base to activate it.

You can find manuals and other information about your model at Vtech's site.

TAD2012 Quick Reference Guide

and replace cover.
2. Plug the telephone line cord (connected to the back of the TAD2012) into the modular wall

2. To hear your messages, press and release the PLAY control. Your unit will automatically
reset after messages are played.

To Save Your Messages
After the last message and 2 beep tones, press the STOP/SAVE control.

IN CASE OF POWER FAILURE OR IF ANSWERING SYSTEM IS NOT OPERATING PROPERLY

If a power failure occurs or the plug comes out of the wall, your unit will shut down until the power is restored. One 9-volt battery must be installed to retain your personal greeting message and incoming messages during the power failure. Occasionally outside factors, such as power surges, may adversely affect the unit. If the unit is not operating properly or if the light continues to flash once power is restored, try these steps:
1. Unplug the AC adapter from the power outlet.
2. Remove the 9-volt battery. Replace with a fresh 9-volt battery.
3. Plug AC adapter back into power outlet.
4. When your unit is initially plugged in, it will check its memory for approximately 3 seconds.
Three deep tones will be heard if you attempt to record a greeting message before this
period.
5. Record a new greeting message.
