I would go to Polar for a definitive answer but your monitor may not be making a good contact with your body. Therefore the reception of your heart beat is constantly starting over and can't give a reading fast enough. Try adjusting how you wear the monitor and see if it makes a difference. There is a battery in the chest strap also. The new ones have to go to Polar to get replaced unfortunately. That is another possibility.

Moisten the sensor on the chest strap. This will allow immediiate current transfer. the reason it is taking you so long to get a reading is you were actually having to sweat under the strap before a good contact was made.

It appears my F6 monitor is not keeping accurant time on calories and heart rate. I like the watch but while checking my sitting heart rate is very low. When checking the heart rate on a blood pressure...

First you need to understand that the Polar system is a medical grade device and it is calculating calories based on specific information that you have inputed and heart rate data from your heart.

Most treadmills and other exercise machines use a much simpler counter that is height and weight based to calculate calories and are generally over generous with their numbers.

Depending on the blood pressure machine you are using, the pulse (not heart rate) is coming through the brachial artery, again not quite as accurate as measuring r-r variance from your heart. There is a ton of literature you can read if you are into the accurateness of the system, but I will sum up with saying that you actual calorie expenditure will be closer on the Polar than on most other devices outside of a hospital. As too the heart rate this is also true, so more likely you are getting inaccurate numbers from the other devices.

If you want pinpoint accuracy then you will need to use the Polar RS800 or S810 devices that measure and display true R-R.

Setting an hourly alarm on an F5 Polar heart rate monitor.

The only alarms available to use for that watch is your heart rate for exercise and a daily alarm. Unfortunately it does not have the hourly alarm feature. I wish it did I am a personal trainer and hourly chimes would help to keep me on time but my rs200 doesn't have the feature either. Sorry :)

Setting Polar CE0537

You do not have the right model number. For some reason, Polar puts the CE0537 in big numbers on the back of the case. The real model number on my unit was in very light engraving right above the words "Polar Electro" on the back of the case. Looks like they have an engraving problem where both the model and serial number are very hard to read. If it helps, my model was S120 and I found the manual quickly on the polar site. The polar site also has the location of model numbers in their FAQ area.
