A lot of times there is a gear inside of the changer that gets jammed. If you can, remove the top cover of the changer. On the changer mechanism (it will be on the right side of the changer) there will be a large gear (probably black) with an arm attached to it. Use a flat blade screw driver or something like that and turn the gear counterclockwise until the tray is back in magazine. You should then be able to put the changer back together and it will probably work fine.

Hi I have put a cd into the changer but now cannot eject the cd, the stereo reads error 99 please advise

The CD, when inserted, became either wedged or not seated properly and the sensors dont know how to respond. Here are the codes for Kenwood.
Changer Error Codes
• E-00: Poor Cable connection.
• E-01: Magazine not properly set in changer.
• E-02: No Disc in magazine.
• E-03: CD does not have selected track number.
• E-04: Disc is dirty, upside down or unreadable.
• E-10: No data is recorded on the MD. The player plays the next disc automatically.
• E-99: Changer malfunction, disc may be caught in machine or changer requires service.

If you have a steady hand... carfully unscrew and open up the unit just far enough so you can either pull, or nudge the CD tray enough for the CD to be seated in the tray properly...
Good luck...

Error-99 shows on screen then turn system off

Error 99 is CD not up to speed. Either the CD is slipping, Defective CD, pickup is unable to read sectors and is either dirty pickup or pickup going bad.

Is it always the same CD you are playing? Is the CD smudged with finger prints or dirty? If not suspect the CD itself. This will require Repair or Replace, as E-99 is a classic malfunction & unit will need to be taken apart, "unless" there is a CD stuck in the Unit.

If you have loaded a Blank Cartridge & clicked Eject & found no extra CD, then you will need to have a Reputable Shop Repair Typically this is the Logic I.C. & / or the Servo Motor. Sometimes you can find the same Unit on E-Bay, Craigs List, etc for less than Repair

Changer Error Codes:
E-00: Poor Cable connection.
E-01: Magazine not properly set in changer.
E-02: No Disc in magazine.
E-03: CD does not have selected track number.
E-04: Disc is dirty, upside down or unreadable.
E-10: No data is recorded on the MD. The player plays the next disc automatically.
E-99: Changer malfunction, disc may be caught in machine or changer requires service.

Hope this helps. Your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using Fixya, and have a nice day.

Error 1 on alpine cha-s364

Quick Note: It's really helpful to your cause if you make sure you include more information about your system and what you're doing to get an error.

It's also a good idea to make sure you type in your model number correctly - you've typed in cha-s364 (the actual model you're talking about "I think" is a CHA-S634 - please verify!!

Here's a link to the user manual

As for the E-01 Error message on your CD Changer:

The E-01 reading is an error message, usually because the changer magazine is jammed in the changer. To manual eject out the magazine, take a thin plastic ruler (at least 5-1/2" in length) and slip it between the bottom of the magazine and the changer. Now, push in. This will hit a release button in the back. If the magazine does not eject, you will need to send the unit in to be serviced. To locate the nearest authorized service center to you call 1-800-ALPINE-1.
Note: if the magazine is half way out, but jammed, DO NOT try to release the magazine. You will need to send the unit in to be serviced by a technician.

I receive error msg and cant eject magazine

The magazine in our Sony CD player would not eject. I tried pressing two buttons at the same time etc., with no result. I uplugged the player, removed the screws that hold the black metal cover on and took off the cover (pull the metal up, out and away at the back bottom sides, then slide it back to release the lip from under the front pane.) Looked down inside and saw the problem, a CD disc extended about 1/2 inch from the magazine, blocking ejection. I pushed the extended edge of the disc back into the magazine with the tip of a kitchen knife. Plugged the player back in, pushed power and then the eject button, and the magazine ejected. Replaced the metal cover and it works fine. If it won't eject again I know what to do. Be sure to unplug before you work, you don't need an electrical shock.
All the best, Sonia Murray
