Razr powers off for no reason

My Razr phone got wet (long story).

I opened it up and pulled the battery and put the phone in some rice to dry it out.

Three weeks later and the phone will power up.

Sometimes when I press a key (not always the same one), it'll power off.

Other times, I can press keys with no problem, but after dialing (and without me touching anything) it'll power off. I've received a few calls without a problem.

Any suggestions? Or is it dead?

The problem is that the circuitry inside got wet and there is no knowing what that water damage got into .. shorts across circuit board components etc.. so it is what it is,.. it may work..but chances are something in the logic got corrupt by that water.. It's a hit or miss proposition.. I doubt very much that it will recover on it's own after this length of time drying out.. Good luck..

Phone got wet fix

It's probably too late, but first open the case, take out the battery and shake out any water. Then place in a jar of rice (absorbs all the water). Then let it air dry overnight. After all is thoroughly dry, replace battery and try it out. The reason it may be too late, is that with the battery in, electrolysis takes place and damages connections and circuit boards. I hope it's not too late for you.

Phone got wet in salt water-let it air dry for 4 days-sim card ok-top screen works-when flip phone open-other screen lights-up but is blank-can't pull-up menu-when put battery in-phone...

Hi,
Take the phone and place it in a bad of minute rice....the rice will pull the remaining moisture out of the phone... however the corrosive nature of saltwater may have left deposits inside the phone that are causing it to malfunction...it may never work correctly again... but try the rice before giving up on it...even the rice may take a few days to work...

Razr phone just fell out of back pocket into toilet. I took of back cover & removed battery. What next?

Dry the phone, battery, sim card, etc. with cloth and wrap each piece, phone and accessories, in newspaper. Place a few handfuls of rice into a plastic bag and then place the wrapped phone in the bag with rice. The newspaper wrapping avoids direct contact of rice with your phone because the dust from the rice can get into the small areas of the phone. The newspaper and rice will absorb moisture. Leave it there (with the bag open) at least 24 hrs.

Blackberry curve got slightly wet, now cant turn on

Hello

Problem was when you got it wet, you did not let it dry long enough. Reason I say this is because when you tried to operate the phone again it shorted out.

Typically it takes about 48 hours to dry completely. The best way is to separate the battery and phone, put them in a bowl of rice and close it up for 48 hours. The dry rice will draw out every bit of moisture.

You really can't do much to fix it. Paying an expert to look at it find the damaged parts and replace them would cost many times over that of replacing it.

My phone got wet

Try removing the battery, using a blow dryer to air everything out in battery compartment. If there are any tiny screws or way to open up the phone itself, open it up, and blow everything inside there too.

Let it dry out completely and then see if it will work again. My guess is no, because once the circuits get wet, they are pretty much damaged and irrepairable.

Hope this helps at least some. Good luck!

My cell phone briefly got wet in our pool. We have dried it out and now it only works off and on.

After getting a phone wet, the best way to dry it out safely and quickly is to pull the battery and bury the phone in a bowl filled with (uncooked) rice for a day. The rice acts as a desiccant and remove any excess moisture.
If the phone still does not work correctly, it may be time to find a replacement.

When i got in the pool my phone got wet................

Sir, you can put it in rice if you want it but the best solution is to open up the phone both sides and clean it or dry it. If you try to charge it or turn it on you will toast it. Hope this would help.

Did you dry the phone completely? Here is the procedure to take out all moisture trapped in the phone: Dry the phone, battery, any accessory, etc. with cloth and wrap each piece, phone and accessories, in newspaper. The newspaper wrapping avoids direct contact of rice with your phone because the dust from the rice can get into the small areas of the phone. The newspaper and rice will absorb moisture. Wet cell phone

You should remove the back plate and the battery.

Let them sit in the sun or warm dry area (garage), dont put it in the oven or near it, for 2 days.

Try booting it up.

If you have tried to start it after is was soaked, this may not work.

Best of Luck.
