Look under the latch for debris or the check feeder pin is pushed up out of place not letting the latch close. Push the pin down into the retaining oring that fits into a slot below the check feeders. If the retainer oring is split, it will not hold the pin down.

Bostich RN-46 seems to be over sinking the nails even went set to low depth

Adjust the air pressure on the regulator to about 90 lbs. or lower. maybe higher than 90 but that should help you set the depth.

Why does my Senco SN 901 XP frame nailers driver stay forward?

not sure what powers the senco if it works on combustion or air could be damage O rings. Another possibility is a trapped nail under the blade. Have seen where a nail has not been driven out of the magazine but has bent and points down the magazine close to end of gun. What happens is the blade drives over the nail but becomes trapped between nail and roof of the nose assy. Probably need to strip the gun a little.

How do i control the depth the nail shoots in a bostitch coil nailer

The bostitch nailer pictured along along with your question is a RN46 roofing coil nailer. It has a dial on the front of the nose for adjusting depth. Some older nailers (roofing nailers) do no have a means of adjusting so were set at the factory for best performance. The question of depth usually comes up when lower bumper fails and the nail is driven too deep. Easy test. Remove nails and find a very soft piece of wood. Dry fire the gun against soft wood and measure how deep the driver is entering the wood. Harder test. Remove the head and use any handy tool to push driver down to bottom. Measure how far the driver extends past nose (should be about 1/8 to 3/16). If more, replace the lower bumper. Good luck

Bostitch RN46-1 roof nailer won't advance nails into the piston chamber. After loading the nail coil, the first nail fires fine, but the next won't advance. Please help. Thanks!

check the height of the magazine, but I think that you have a problem with the feed piston or there is a spring on the feed pawl that might be broke. Unload the nails and dry fire the tool with the door open observing the piston movement. It should "SNAP" back and forth if it does unplug the air and check to see if the spring that applies pressure to the pawl is broken or missing. I am going to guess the piston. If this tool has not been serviced in a while the asphalt tends to jam up the mechanisms. Let me know if you need more assistance.

New recon. wont fire this morning. Used it first time yesterday and it worked fine. Now, I can hear air when I press the tip onto shingles but no nail?

I would return it for an exchange, sounds like the firing valve is sticking or you might want to check for a jammed nail in the nose area. UNPLUG from air hose first.

I bought a rn 46 and the plunger is out blocking

neither one, could be a jammed nail or an o ring issue, check for the jammed nail first and if not let me know and I will try and help.

My bostitch rn46 seems to double or triple shoot nails frequently. Am I not using the tool properly or could there be a mechanical problem with the tool?

if u are right nails for gun, then make sure when u put coil in and feed in front of firing pin the nails are straight with pin and connecting wires are not bent causing nails to fall out of alingnment.
