I have a 10 year old hotpoint mistral plus frost free fridge freezer whic keeps coming up with EA as an error message in the display screen. We have turned the appliance on and off which sometimes solves the problem for a short period. On one occasion the fridge stopped working entirely. The freezer seems to be unaffected. We live in Cyprus and the weather in the past 6 weeks has reached 38oC. Could this have an adverse effect on the appliance? Please advise. Thank you.

We have the same problem. I've read on other forums that it means there is no response from the baffle? I have no idea what this means but need a cheap solution if there's one available? These tempratures are pretty cold should be around 0 deg. but it sounds like you might have a bad defrost timer or defrost thermostat the frost should not come back if defrost system is working
Possible that there is block on the air passage from the freezer fan which can be due to frost or failure of the fan.You need to check if there is free flow from the fan, also the setting of the fridge temperature.
hi is this the frost free version ??? if it is which i think it is it could be a fault with temp module{frost free have electronic modules to control the system rather than a old fashioned bog standard thermostat inside the fridge} the fans should be controlled by the module in case of frost free models it could be the module which is playing up
if there is frost present on the rear vertical wall of the freezer compartment then the defrost function is broken and needs to be repaired the freezer is like an ice block and yo get cooling up to the refridgerator compartment air has to be able to flow and that can't happen if the frost is not eliminated
Well this is a sensor,, found in the freezer compartment of the f/f
what you have to do is reove the draws fro mthe freezer and you will c a panel which has 6 screws., remove the panel and and you will c a fan, toward the right of the fan you will c a yellow plug with a bit of wire on it,
This is what you have to replace
try connect distributions you can find them on the net if your in the uk that is
We have just had to call out an engineer to get our 1 1/2 year old Hotpoint Graphite Frost Free Fridge Freezer repaired. The fridge had almost entitely stopped cooling even when on high. I was amazed at how easily the problem was sorted. The engineer removed all the basktes from the freezer to access the screws on the inside backpanel of the freezer. Once this panel was removed it was clear that the so called Frost Free doesn't really mean what it says. The ice need to be melted with a bit of simple care. It is obvious that with a bit of care it is easliy a diy job BUT PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND READ THE NEXT PART BEFORE YOU BEGIN TO REMOVE THE ICE> The ice forms around variouys pipes etc and he usecd a screwdriver to help release the ice quicker than waiting for it to defrost and he also used a simple hairdryer to help speed up the process. He had a ntowel and a basin to take care of the water. Next time I would have no problem doing this myself but I would need to leave it a little while to defrost and NOT USE A SCREWDRIVER as I am sure somehow I would puncture a pipe or the wall of the freezer itself and I am quite used to doing the odd bit of DIY. On a difficulkty scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being difficult I would rate the job as about a 3. Hope this helps anyone who reads this about £70.
It is possibly the fan hitting any overformed ice. defrosting by shutting it off overnight would be the best to do first. Or at least shut it off for a few hours.
if the door seals are both ok, check and see if she has any open containers in the fridge juice ect that may be allowing moisture to escape. a model number and serial nuber off the sticker in the fridge would help me with more ideas.
