2001 Jeep Wrangler 4.0: Depress clutch, turn the key, engine doesn't crank. Release clutch, turn key, engine doesn't crank...makes same sound as if clutch is in. Wait 20 minutes it will start. Any ideas...starter?...clutch switch? Battery terminals are clean and battery is fully charged. Appreciate the help.

Try putting the car in neutral and starting. If its a manual trans it might be the clutch pedal safety switch or it may be something as simple as a loose battery connection.

SOURCE: 1991 jeep wrangler clutch

U have what is called a hydraulic clutch, one of the hydraulic cylinders hs failed, there is a master and a slave cylinder. The most likely and most common cylinder to fail is the slave cylinder, this requires the transmission to be pulled out to replace it. the art is around $125.00, while the trans is out u might as well replace the clutch, the labor is about the same. Here is a picture of the part, let me know if u can see it.

SOURCE: how do i bleed the master clutch cylinder system on a 1995 jeep ?

A special pump is used to back bleed the system. If you don't own one then you have to be patient and just keep pumping the clutch pedal until it comes back. It can take a half hour to get it back. Just depents on how much air is inside.

SOURCE: 2006 Jeep Wrangler won't start

First, make sure you can turn the engine by hand. If you can't then the starter can't turn it either. Have someone else turn the key and look for the source of the click...may be a relay. Go over the starting circuit with a volt meter. Check for power at the starter main terminal and then with the key turned to "start" check for power at the trigger terminal on the starter. Check battery voltage and check relay operation.
You have a neutral safety switch on the transmission if its an automatic and a clutch switch if it's a stick. Check them as well. Make sure battery grounding on fender and block are also clean and secure.

High pitched squeal when jeep idles or during deceleration. soonafter, clutch pedal jumped violently under my foot followed by engine stalling out. could not depress clutch pedal after that.

It sounds like your clutch bearing has gone they are usually on a pendulum system it screeches before it starts to go. Best get it checked.

2000 jeep wrangler wont start

If it won't crank, check clutch safety switch and cables for the starter.
If it cranks but won't start, you'll need to find out if it is ignition or fuel to know where to look next.

1990 Jeep Wrangler: When I depress the clutch petal with the engine running and the transmission in 1st, the jeep wants to move forward. I have to time the engine speed to shift from 3rd to 2nd and from...

Sounds like a leaking master or slave for the clutch that is not permitting full disengagement. If it only happens when cold it could also be caused by incorrect lube (too heavy) in the transmission, but that is unusual.
Make sure the fluid in the clutch master cylinder is full and that there is no visible seepage where the rod enters from the pedal and that there also is no seepage at the slave unit.

1993 jeep wrangler turns over but will not crank. does clutch have to be pushed down to crank?

a faulty neutral sw on the clutch keeps the engine from turning over .... your car probably has starter a relay/solenoid somewhere close to the battery, from which the intial engine electricity comes, and goes to starter and firing system. if the is faulty then no spark.....good luck

Where is the bleed valve for clutch on a 1991 jeep wrangler

1. Fill master cylinder reservoir with DOT 3 brake fluid. Raise and support vehicle. Attach bleeder hose to bleeder screw on bleed line of slave cylinder. See Fig. 1 (attached in link) . Place other end of hose in glass container 1/2 full of brake fluid. Loosen bleeder screw while holding bleeder screw fitting.

2. Have an assistant depress clutch pedal to the floor. Tighten bleeder screw and release clutch pedal. Repeat bleeding procedure until fluid entering container is free of bubbles. DO NOT allow reservoir to run out of fluid during bleeding. Refill clutch master cylinder reservoir.

CAUTION: DO NOT allow bleed line to bend or flex when loosening
bleeder screw.

1995 wrangler front end rattles when i release clutch

Most likely the noise is the throwout bearing. If you have lots of miles on it you may consider doing the entire clutch while you're in there. If the pressure plate is in really good shape, you could just replace the disc, but if there are any hard spots on the plate it may chatter. Don't forget the pilot bearing in the back of the crank either.

When clutch pushed in it makes high pitched squeel

Im a mechanic, i think you will find it will be the clutch release bearing on the clutch fork, when you push the clutch in it will push the fork which will push the clutch release bearing onto the clutch plate which rotating with the engine revs
