Grundfos MQ3-45 1 HP Pressure Booster Pump Logo

I live in the country and have a 1400 ft water line 1-1/2" diam. feeding my MQ 45. I have pumped water through the line with a gas powered pump and it works fine but my MQ 45 doesn't want to pump anything. The pump would not be pulling any more than about 20 ft elevation...is there too much friction between the water and the pipe over the 1400 ft?

SOURCE: With the water running the MQ pump runs intermittently

This is a problem with your bladder in the pressure tank or the pressure switch. Ether one will produce this cycling on and off. Good luck.

SOURCE: Ok at the place I

Ok let me ask a few questions. 1.You said U have A 1HP Sub. It pumps from about 300'. How did U get this info? 2.Now the water goes into A 120 Gal storage Tank from the top, then goes out from the bottom. Is Tank A Plastic or Galvanized/PSI Tank. OK NOW.BASED ON THE INFO THAT U PROVIDED.ON THE ISSUES THAT U R HAVING. IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR TANK IS WATER LOGGED. WHAT THAT MEANS IS.YOUR TANK IS FILLED TO THE TOP WITH ONLY WATER. SO THE ONLY TIME U GET PRESSURE IS WHEN THE PUMP TURNS ON. NOW TO FIX THIS WATER LOGGED TANK PROBLEM.ALL U NEED IS AIR. SEE WHEN THERE IS AIR IN THE TANK & THE PUMP TURNS ON. WATER GOES INTO THE TANK.IT COMPRESS THE AIR WITCH CREATES PSI. Let me ask u another question. By any chance, before this booster pump was installed.Have U noticed your system turning on & off rapidly.Like all the time. How about your power bill.Has it been kind of high.

No water

Does the motor turn it self off after a couple of minutes of no pumping?= ran out of water. If there is water up to the pump and still no water, check filter/s ( if there is any). Undo V band and check pump internals, impeller may be broken from shaft? When putting back together tap V band with block off wood or back of screw driver evenly as you do up the clamp to stop it distorting

Triton t200re shower

Paul. Is it only the shower that the pump cuts out? i dont think we have these pumps in AU. Would bet that its a flow issue. Either remove the water saving device in the shower, if there is one. Pr turn another tap on just a dribble when you start the shower?
We have these issues with "smart"? controllers that think there is a leak

Grundfos MQ pump starts every 15 seconds

Pressure is bleeding back through the pump or system to the tank or well or where ever the water is coming from. Should be some sort of one way valve to keep water from going back to the source, mounted somewhere so that once pressure is pumped up, it will hold that pressure in the part of the system that has the pressure switch that controls the pump.

That or you have a leak where you can't see it. (Actually you do, it is just internal and not leaking outside the pipes!)

Low pressure from grundfos pump to house

Does your system equipped with pressure tank (pneumatic tank)? If it has, maybe it's already filled with water due to some pinhole leaks. Drain the tank and see what will happen.

My mq 35 pump, has started to splutter and the pressure goes completely, occasionally coming back on its own and other times i have to reset the alarm... the pump is three years old and this has been...

Sounds like it may be air in the system - there is a black plastic bleeder screw on the top of the pump - open it and let air escape, if any, then fill with water, close screw and start pump.
