I think faulty motherboard for Inspiron 1521

I have an AMD Dell Inspiron 1521. Basically came to me as a brick, no life. Put in a spare AMD I knew worked. I get the power on indicator, you can feel the HDD work, the cpu heats and kicks on the fan but basically you got a black screen, no post, no beep code, no fault indication. I think bad board but wanted to get some feedback

No power on

Hi , i have a motherboard from a dell inspiron 1521 , i payed for a mostly complete base as i needed the case for a cracked 1520 case , anyway the motherboard had a short in the board because when you plug a power adapter in the green led would go out and no blue leds on the mb would show , i decided to have a look at the mb but did not see anything of interest so i connect 1 lead of my meter to ground the other probed around the power supply parts of the mb , did not find much until i came to part of the edge near the heatsink , there are 2 small smc caps marked (pc135) and (pc27) next to (fl6) if you put the meter across these 2 caps you get about 0.1 ohms , i did not no which was faulty so removed both and rechecked across ware they were the meter now says 23meg ohms and when i plug in the adapter i now get a blue power light .

Charger light is on battery wont charge dell inspiron 1521

Your battery could have given up.
Check the voltage coming out of the transformer. You should have 18-19 volts.
Either that or your motherboard charging circuit could have quit.

My inspiron 1521 won't charge the battery...no sign that I have it plugged in.

3 possiblities

1 AC connector block is partially unpluged
or 2 Bad battery

Worst case scenario 3 charging circuit on Motherboard gone bad
but not likely

It doesn't even know it is there. i reinstalled it. cleaned it. took it out, and out put it back in. i've done all that and it still doesn't notice it

It's a faulty motherboard. Won't recognize nor charge the battery. Have seen it dozens of times as a Dell Tech.

If you can swap with another battery (someone you know has the same laptop maybe?), but I've been called out to change many a motherboard because the battery wasn't recognized.

Dell inspiron 1521 laptop won't recognize a new 90 watt power

There are different types of Dell power adapters, some of them put out different amounts of power. While it is possible that the battery is faulty, it is more likely, given your error message that the adaptor is wrong. If you got it from Dell, you can call them and they will exchange it.

Try this: remove the battery and unplug the power, hold down the power button for 10 seconds, then plug the power back in, and try turn it on again. If this doesn't work, check the power plugin port, if anything in there is moving around, it might be broken and need to be repaired. Check for a local electronics or computer store for that. The only other problem I can think of is that the motherboard died, probably from over-heating. This usually requires a new laptop, or an equivalent price for a new motherboard. Good luck, I truly hope the first one works.

My dell inspiron 1521 laptop with amd athlon x2 processor does not boot...all it shows me is the dell startup screen.... what can i do?

hit Ctrl and F11 while the blue bar is loading this will start your recovery process. now if there are beep codes then it might be something diffrent your computer will beep once thats normal but if it beeps more times after that you need to post how many count them. right now it looks like your harddrive crashed.
