Question edited for 'make model (what it is)'.
Question moved from Drills to model category.
Is it new and under warranty?
You say it works, but is doesn't turn on. It can't be both. Details say that once you turn it on, you have to press another button to make it work. Presumably to make sure you don't get the laser in the eye or someone else's eye.
Secondhand and battery worn out?
Please make sure that your laser-distance measure is charged properly to start. View it's screen for any listed error codes that could give us a clue to watch the issue is. If the error code hints at restarting the device, then we can move in that direction. If the error isn't revealed from perusing any troubleshooting documentation that comes with your device, then you can reach out to Bosch for repair/replacement help.
The procedure outlined here is intended to provide a basic adjustment only.
Park the vehicle on a level surface 25 feet (7.62 meters) from a vertical wall. There must be a horizontal reference point, such as a line on the pavement or another wall, at a right angle to the aiming wall. The fuel tank should be about 1/2 full, tire pressures must be correct and there must be a person in the driver's seat.
Measure the distance from the floor to the center of each headlight. Mark these heights on the wall and draw a line between them.
Measure the horizontal distance from the reference point to the center of each headlight. Make reference marks on the wall so that X marks the center of each headlight.
With the headlights on low beam, the high intensity zone of the light beam should be immediately below the line and about 2 inches to the right of the center of each headlight.
If adjustment is required, remove the grille and use a Phillips screwdriver to turn the adjuster screws.
Same problem Err and --- on display. The front lens had become misaligned. Take off front rubber boot, clean lens and replace lens exactly in glue pattern on unit with rounded side facing out. Then holding unit with seated lens upright push rubber boot slowly back on. Very hard at first but push as much in by hand then use a narrow blunt point like the back of a screwdriver handle to press around the edge working it in with slow continuous pressure a quarter inch at a time. It will reseat just take your time and work the high spots. This time was not the batteries, works like new.
4) Operation manual shows: Length Measurement** and tells you to measure the height while promo says tool will calculate height E Area Measurement*** shows rectangle only and not triangle Volume Measurement Area or Volume Rounding of Large Calculations Continuous Measurement (Tracking)
6) Until you get satisfaction from Bosch, the Bosch device gives precise menasurements that can be entered into a Pythagorean calculator online, which defeats the purpose of a jobsite tool: But you can access online calculator via cell phone while on jobsite. http://www.analyzemath.com/Geometry_calculators/pythagorean.html
northerntool.com has a few wheel meters that roll along the ground and will give you a fairly close measurement. or you can use the string method where you take a string and stretch it as close to a straight line as possible then mark it then get it out to where you can measure the string.
