Unfortunately this could be a number of reasons, ranging from simple to hard. Taking the simple first - make sure the 2-pin plug is properly inserted into the machine - if it stops, try wiggling the plug first to see if that 'resets' the machine. If it's OK, it might be the switch on the power supply - I've had a couple that needed replacing, but in all honesty, the problem is probably internal and could range from a poorly-inserted plug on the main control board, to a component problem on the board itself, which could be costly to replace. Is your machine still in warranty (2 years on electronic parts) - if-so, get it checked-out by your Bernina service agent, just in case ... dont go messing-about with the machine yourself. Before doing this ... check exactly what happens when it stops sewing ..... I assume that the foot controller doesn't make any difference ..... check if the sewing light is still on, or the display backlight, and is the display still showing any information, or has it gone blank ? Does it happen on all patterns - straight/zig-zag etc. or a memory pattern ? This may help to identify the likely cause.

Follow-up January 2013: It appears there was a quality problem with the controller chip on power supply 'L'-prints used on Activa, Aurora and Artista 630/640 models, mostly with Chassis Numbers 46xxxxxx. The problem is manifested by the machine suddenly stopping during use, with nothing shown on the display, but the sewing light and display backlight still on. This can be 'reset' by switching off and back on again, but the problem gets steadily worse and is particularly bad when sewing for a long time or under heavy load. There was an indefinite extended warranty on Activa models in the UK that acknowledged this quality problem, but it never acknowledged that the exact same 'L'-print is also used on the Aurora and Artista 630/640. In the UK, this 'indefinite' warranty extension has now been withdrawn and the only legit option is to replace the whole 'L'-print, however it is also possible to overcome this problem by simply replacing the KA34063A controller chip on the board, since this was the cause of the problem. If you need help with this ... contact me.
Hi, I am having the same issue. What do you recommend?
Thanks,

my Active 135s is doing the same thing. The extended warranty is only in the UK? what about the US? I am being told I have to change my L board at a cost of $350! Any thoughts?
