SOURCE: CONNECTING ACER TO THE TV
Hi I have an Acer Aspire 4920. It's a good laptop and have been using it for about 2 weeks now. One issue I have is that the VGA connector on the laptop has no screw holes which means when your try to screw the VGA plug to the socket via the thumb screws..you can't!! This isn't a big problem but its sub standard.
As far as connecting it to the TV is concerned. The laptop should have a yellows S VIDEO out din socket on the left hand side near the buillt in NETWORK and MODEM Line ports. You need to connect a SVIDEO cable from here to the TV's SVIDEO or SCART(using a suitable SVideo to Scart). Then make sure the TV is set on the correct SVIDEO input. Now reboot the laptop. The [FN] + [F5] only works if you are using the VGA output to a LCD or Monitor/Projector. Once back into windows desktop you need to go into the properties of the graphics card and activate it through the menu under one of the tabs.
Hope this helps.

this is a problem with the standby feature there is a patch that Microsoft has put out that should fix the problem i think the main cause is having a usb device plugged in when going to sleep, search Microsoft knowldege base and it should pop right up

Hi,
I also have acer 4920 (not sure if "G" or not), which has Radeon Mobility HD 2400 XT graphics card, stated to have 256 MB memory and "up to" 1024 MB.
I believe arjuun is incorrect - this is a dedicated graphics card with dedicated memory (256 MB) and ability to access system memory to increase graphics memory to 1024 MB
I can play games fine e.g. Half life 2, counter strike source, Shaiya. (not necessarily on highest quality - but mid range and runs fine).
If you are having problems it might be driver problem (I'm not an expert though). Worth following up however - your computer should be OK with reasonable games (... but don't expect Crysis to run at max resolution).
FYI - I ended up here as I am searching for graphics drivers - acer.co.uk has the original drivers (which you could try), but I cannot find updated drivers anywhere! ATI website list the card, but has no drivers. Some of the "free" driver update software say an update is available (but I have to pay to actually get it!)
Note - if you go to control panel > systems & maintenance > system > device manager - then expand "display adapters" it will tell you what graphics card you have.

Try reseating the LCD cable to the video card. If no change, then you will most likely need a replacement LCD (Roughly $150 on EBay)

HI pewilson929. The Catalyst Control centre is a program that lets you configure your video card settings without using the Control Panel - Display. It installs when you download a driver for you specific ATI product. If you get this error it means you may have the correct driver for your video card. Did you get the driver from ACER or ATI?
Just in case uninstall it from Add/Remove and restart and then download this driver from the acer's website.

I hope this helps. Please let us know if this works for you. Thank you :D
