How To Connect a DVD Recorder to a Television:
1.If you want to use higher quality cables, then you may want to connect the TV Source (Cable and Satellite only, not Antenna) to the DVD Recorder using Composite, S-Video or Component video and audio cables.
2.To use composite cables (also known as RCA, the yellow plug is video, the red and white plugs, audio): Plug in the composite cables to the RCA outputs on the back of your TV source and then plug in the composite cables to the RCA inputs of the DVD Recorder. Then connect the RCA outputs from the DVD Recorder to RCA inputs on the TV.
3.To use S-Video and RCA audio cables: Plug in the S-Video cable to the S-Video output of the TV source. Plug in the S-Video cable to the S-Video input on the DVD Recorder. Next, connect the RCA audio cable to the output on the TV source and the input on the DVD Recorder. Finally, connect the S-Video cable and the RCA audio cable to the output on the DVD Recorder and the input on the TV.
5. To use Component Video cables and RCA audio cables: Connect the Component Video cable and the red and white RCA audio cables to the outputs on the TV source and the inputs on the DVD Recorder. Next, connect the Component Video cable and RCA audio cable to the outputs on the DVD Recorder and the inputs on the TV.
6. Now that the TV source (either Cable, Satellite or Antenna), the DVD Recorder and the TV are all connected, you need to configure everything to make sure that TV is coming through the DVD Recorder, for recording and viewing.
7. Turn on the Cable Box or Satellite Receiver, TV and DVD Recorder.
8. If you connected everything using the RF connections then the TV should be passing through the DVD Recorder and displaying Television on the TV screen. To record in this mode, you would need to tune to either channel 3 or 4 on the TV and then use the DVD Recorder TV Tuner to change channels and record.
9. If you made connections using either Composite, S-Video or Component cables, then to view or record TV, two adjustments need to be made. First, the DVD Recorder needs to be tuned to the appropriate input, typically L1 or L3 for rear inputs and L2 for front inputs. Second, the TV also must be tuned to the proper input, on a TV usually Video 1 or Video 2.
10. If you have a Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound A/V Receiver you can connect either a Digital Optical Audio cable or Coaxial Digital Audio cable from the DVD Recorder to the receiver to listen to audio through the receiver.

How can i connect a dvd player to the LG sound bar

On the back of the DVD player you will find a Red and a White RCA plugs and the video out plugs as well, The Red and the White RCA plugs are the Left and the Right Channel Audio out from the DVD player, Using a RCA cable set connect that to the sound bar. If you don't have the audio cables you can get them at Radio Shack or on eBay for cheap.

My television does not have an audio output so i connected the rs 110 to my cable box and it works fine...however i also have a dvd player connected to the tv video input and for some reason i cannot hear...

You cannot hear the audio from the DVD player because your headphones are connected directly into the cable box. I'm assuming that your DVD does not route through your cable box, thus the audio has no way of getting to your RS 110's. Also, changing the channel on the TV has no effect on the cable box, thus it won't alter than audio.
What you need to do:
  1. Look on the cable box to see if there is an option for AUDIO in (should be a pair of red and white RCA plugs)
  2. You want to run an RCA cable from the AUDIO OUT of the DVD player to the AUDIO IN of the cable box
  3. Then select the Auxillary input from the cable box and you should be able to hear the DVD
Alternatively you can run both DVD audio and video through the cable box
  1. Look for DVD IN on the cable box
  2. Connect the audio/video cables from the DVD player to the cable box
  3. To watch a DVD, switch to the DVD input on the cable box
Alternatively you can run the cable box through the DVD player
  1. There may be inputs for AUDIO and VIDEO in on the back of the DVD player
  2. You want to connect the outputs of the Cable box into the back of the DVD player
  3. You can then select the input on the DVD player to control whether you see/hear the cable or DVD

Cant figure out how to hook up the receiver to my phillips hi def tv and get the sound?

its old model, will not pass hd video, good only for audio. Connections depend on your equipment. If you use a cable box to watch tv, connect cable box audio out rca connectors (red and white), by an audio rca cable, to audio TV input on the back of the receiver. Now when you swith your receiver to TV input you get sound from cable box trough your speakers.
If you use DVD player: connect audio out of the player to dvd audio input of the receiver. Switch the receiver to DVD input, you have sound from DVD.

I needed to know how do connectd my dvd player with my tv and ditail cablebox form coxs

HI,
IN THREE WAYS
1. FROM DVD'S OR CABLE BOX'S HDMI OUT PUT TO ANY OF TVS HDMI IN PUT VIA HDMI CABLE ( FOR THIS BOTH SHOULD HAVE HDMI CONNECTIVITY )
2 DVD'S OR CABLE BOX'S COMPONENT VIDEO OUT TO TVS COMPONENT VIDEO INPUT VIA COMPONENT VIDEO CABLE ( NORMALLY COMES IN THREE COLOUR ). ALSO CONNECT AUDIO USING A TWO RCA CABLE.
3 . AND ALSO THROUGH COMPOSITE VIDEO CONNECTION.
SELECTION FOR THE TWO DEPENDS ON U. ACCORDING TO UR REQUIREMENT.

Hooking up to the television s-cable and two audio jacks. I have a picture of the dvd but the sound comes from the television program in the background

The S Video cable and the two audio cables should be plugged into the same av input on your television. It sounds like the sound cables for your cable box or satellite tv box are plugged into the television where the two audio cables for the DVD player should be.

Cant hook dvd/vcr to my cable box the manual says I need a extern

The cable box IS an external tuner.  You should connect the video output (either S video, HDMI, or component video) of the cable box to the video input of the DVD.  Then connect the audio output of the cable box to the audio input of the DVD via stereo RCA cables.  If your tv monitor has multiple inputs (ie: video 1, 2, and 3...) connect the video and audio output of the DVD to your tv monitor using an alternate video input (if cable box goes into your tv thru video 1, connect the DVD to video 2).  If your cable box only has one output, or your tv has only one input, then just connect your cable box to the DVD as above, and connect the DVD to your tv.

Trying to connect dvd player

You will have to connect your DVD player to the plasma TV, not the cable box. The cable box (or most cable boxes) have video outputs only. The same is true for the DVD player: it outputs the video to the tv.

Look in your DVD manual for scenarios for connecting your player to the tv.
