You need to remove the fuel line and blow back into it to remove any debri that has collected around the fuel pick up. Be sure the fuel filter under the car is changed as well and the fuel filter on the firewall. Also fill the tank and put 2 quarts of rubbing alcohol in the fuel tank to dry up any water.

95 caviler died while driving, now it will not start. Trying to start, it cranks real rough & catches hard. Any ideas?

If it has the 2.2L engine, and its has more than 60K miles on it, you may have had a timing chain jump. The tensioner for the chains breaks and allows the chain to jump time. They only last about 60-80K miles before this happens, and when it does, it usually bends valves in the head since it is an interference engine. GM knows about this and has done nothing to correct it. You need to do a compression test to confirm the problem. If it shows low compression on one or more cylinders, plan on a replacement or rebuilt head and a new timing chain set. Then either get rid of the car or plan to replace the chain tensioner every 50K miles to prevent it from happening again.

I speak from personal experience here, having had it happen twice on my daughter's 1997 Cavalier.

Lost oil pressure in a 1999 540i and timing chain noise

from the book the oil pump is driven by a chain from the crankshaft. It is very possible that the oil pump has come loose and thrown/broken the pump chain. It will require a sump removal to check it out. recheck the oil level as what you read may have been a froth level . there is no reason for extra oil unless it was overfilled to start with or there is water contamination ( white /grey oil)

Timing on a chevy venture were the belt at

Chevy Venture has a timing chain, not a belt. It is a very involved job to replace. If you have never done a timing chain before you may want to consider having it done proffesionally.

How do I replace a timing chain in an 1997 chevy caviller

Hi there,

Generally, in "chain" driven engines, it is not neccessary to change the timing chain unless it is seriously stretched or broken (only timing/cam "belts" require interval changing).

However, if you are experiencing the symptom of chain "rattle", then I would first reccommend you change to the correct grade of engine oil, then secondly, change the chain "tensioner".

How to change oil pump in 4.7

Here you go:

1. Remove the oil pan and pick-up tube.

2. Remove the timing chain cover.

3. Remove timing chain and tensioners.

4. Remove the four (4) bolts, timing chain tensioner and oil pump.

5. Position the oil pump on the crankshaft and install two (2) mounting bolts.

6. Position the primary timing chain tensioner and install the two (2) remaining bolts.

7. Tighten the pump and tensioner retaining bolts to 21 ft lbs in the sequence shown in attached photo.

8. Install the secondary timing chain tensioners, chains, cover, pick-up tube, and oil pan with new gasket.

See the photo below. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Give truck gas losses power and speed

Possibly the timing chain has jumped a tooth or two. Or the timing is off all together needs a timing light test done on it.
