SOURCE: Dell Inspiron 9200 stopped working does not power on

This is a very useful post from LapTopReapir-101

Laptop is DEAD. How do your troubleshoot the problem?

In this post I’ll explain how to troubleshoot a dead laptop and find the problem. The following troubleshooting tips are not model and brand specific, they should work for most laptops.
Let’s take a look at two different scenarios.
Example 1. The laptop is absolutely dead.
When you plug in the power adapter and press on the power button, there is no signs of life at all. The laptop will not make usual noises, LEDs will not light up, the fan will not spin, the screen is blank and black, etc… In short, the laptop is dead.
What you can do in this case?...

Did you try to do a flee power test on the motherboard. Remove both the AC and Battery and press the power button of laptop for 30 seconds, then connect only the AC and try turning it on. See if it works.

SOURCE: dell inspiron b120 laptop won't power up

i dont know why dell did this but you have to have battery to run your laptop. the ac coard charges the battery which runs the computer. I really know why but i dont like the configuration. it is so the power is clean to your computer and so the can have less parts in the laptop you need to get a new battery

Hi there, Our Dell Inspiron 1525 specs are as follow: Windows Vista Home Basic Service Pack 1 Intel Core 2 Duo T5750 @2GHz 2GB RAM - 32-bit OS Symptoms are: - Freezes oftenly after random period...

Do you have any CD's thatcame with your laptop? If so, look for one that has "Diagnostics and utilities"listed under the "Contents". You will have to boot from that CD disk. To dothis, power on your laptop and tap the key to bring you to the "Onetime boot menu". Insert the CD and then select CD/DVD drive and hit key. Select the "Run the32 Bit Dell Diagnostics". Next select the "Express Test" and see if any errorsare detected. If no errors are reported, then your operating system software isprobably the culprit. The blue screen of death can be caused by hardware or software. If Diags pass you probably have a software issue. If you don't have the resource CD press the key while powering the system on. This will run theDell built-in Diagnostics.

My ispiron 3800 dont turn on after i tried to load norton...the computer freezed up and now it dont turn on? what can i do

Good old Norton lock out.
You need to get into safe mode and uninstall Norton.
Try to hold the F8 key down while it starts up this should get you to start up options. Go into "SAFE MODE" let it boot into windows all wont be running.
Uninstall Norton. Once you get that off of there I would restart it then I recommend a online AV like avast.com you wont ever get locked out of your computer again.

Dump of Physical Memory

Put the Dell CD in the drive bay. Turn on the computer and start pressing <F12> key. It should say "Preparing one-tome boot" When the screen shows a selection menu for the boot device, use the arrow keys to select the CD and press <Enter> key. That should run the Dell CD. Follow the onscreen prompts to run diagnostics checks

Inspiron B130

Well start a bit slower then.
go into the bios at startup F2, and navigate around does it freeze there. if no then
start windows in safe mode F8 when windows logo shows.
freezing ?
If its not freezing then turn off the startup programs.
Start/run/msconfig and then uncheck load startup items
and start normally, click the dont show me this again /ok
any freezing.
If its freezing you may have a hardware issue.
if you have 2 sticks of memory remove on and or /reseat them
boot the dell diagnostics cd and check the cpu and memory.
report back
