When formating a memory card first you must use a memory card reader that fifs to your memory. and connect to the usb port to your computer. after your computer detects your memory card, go to my computer and right click the removable device which is your memory and click format.

>my computer> right click removable device (memory card)>format

Image database error

The manual on page 126 says:
Image Database File error Cannot recover Import all of the images to the computer with "PMB", and format the memory card or the internal memory (page 97). To view the images again with the camera, export the imported images to the camera with "PMB".

If you used the card before in the same camera, it should be compatible. If you can't save the pictures normally, us an external card reader, to save or recover and save the pictures first. Then do a format in the card reader (FAT or FAT32) and when you reinsert the card in the camera, again format the card, this time in the camera. (You always should format in the camera, the first time you use a memory card in a camera, or after you had a failure tithe the memory card.

My Scandisk Ultra 2GB shows pictures on laptop, yet not on camera...the pictures are on the card. I did download them on my computer, removed them from the card, zoomed, cropped etc on Windows, then...

It is possible that when you edited the pictures on your computer, that you might have changed the file format when you resaved them.

Check the names of your picture files on the computer and compares the endings (.JPG or .BMP or whatever) between new pictures that come directly from your camera and pictures that you have edited and resaved.

If the formats are different at all, then your camera will probably not be able to read them. Cameras usually save pictures in one specific format and can only read them if they are in exactly that format. A computer on the other hand is much more flexible and can usually read or save pictures in many different formats.

Your computer should give you the option of saving a picture file in a different format if you want. When you edit and save the pictures on your computer next time, use the SAVE AS feature, this should give you the option of changing the name of the file as well as the file extension from a drop down list. Then just try saving the picture files in different formats until you find the one that your camera can read. Or just look in your cameras Owner's Manual and find out exactly what format the pictures need to be in for the camera to recognize and display them from a memory card.

Good luck.

My sandisk sd card isn't working in my camera. My camera is a vivitar 5024 camera, everytime I try to take a picture it says memory card is not ready, it says switch to internel ram. This memory card is...

Have you tried to format the card.
1.
  • Start up a computer with Windows XP, Vista, windows 7or Insert the SD card into an external memory card reader or into the computer's built in card reader. If it the first time a SD card has been inserted into the computer, Windows will recognize the SD card and automatically install drivers to read the memory card.
  • 2Go to the computer view by clicking on the windows start menu icon in the bottom right corner of the computer. In Windows 7 and Vista click "Computer". In Windows XP click "My Computer"
  • 3Right click on the SD drive under the computer heading. A dialog box with different options for the drive will appear. Click on "Format" to bring up the formatting dialog box.
  • 4Select the type of formatting (also known as file system format). In Windows XP or Vista there are several choices including FAT, FAT 32, and NTFS. In Windows 7 there is an added choice called exFAT formatting. This is an improved FAT formatting type with improved meta data capabilities. Choose the formatting type, name if the drive if desired, check or uncheck the "quick format" option, and press the "Start" button. When the SD card format is complete Windows will provide a notification.

Card reader with vista will read all cards except 2gb sandisk

If you have another computer with xp on it, I would download the pictures of the stick first. Then I would stick the card back in the vista machine and format the card. Your vista doesn't read the older file system. BE SURE TO BACKUP IT THE FILES FIRST BEFORE FORMATTING!

If you indeed have the pictures on your computer (and are safely stored)... you might try selecting the format memory card function in the camera, to reformat the card, in case it was somehow corrupted while connected to the computer.

When i turn the camera on....it saids memory card requires formatting. then continues to say formatting will delete everything on memory card. i press continue and nothing happens. goes back to say memory...

Use a computer with memory card reader, and read the card using a computer.

If the computer says the same and does not read the card, then the pictures inside the card are usually lost.

If computer instead does read the card, then transfer all picture on computer using the memory card reader, and format the card using complete formatting.

If you need to use the camera tonight, then buy a spare memory card.
If the camera returns same error on different card, then you may have a faulty memory card slot, but that is quite uncommon.
